In an idyllic world that's how a parent should see their children. The reality is our children aren't perfect, just as we have our flaws.
I guess it's called reality. As parents we need to be aware of our children's shortcomings and try to improve those areas. Where they excel, they need to be rewarded. Too often we dwell on the negatives and ignore the positives.

I would never have told anyone that no one is better than my children, but I’ve always built my children up and and tell people the good things about my kids and all the great things that they have accomplished. Because why am I going to focus on the negative? I don’t like to talk bad about people and especially not my kids.
It’s good for our kids confidence to hear their parents talk like that about them

It walks the line between building up their confidence and planting unrealistic expectations in their minds.
Imho, it’s a good thing for kids to know their parents are proud of them—but…
They also need to know that this pride isn’t expecting perfection.
Mistakes are human and a given, and will not diminish their parents’ regard.
