How do people come to terms with the fact that their best days are over?

This is a serious question about a serious topic that I've been trying for figure out for a few years now. There's pretty much two categories: People aged about 18 - 24 (give or take) and everything after that.

Whether it be their personal lives feeling less spectacular, the state of the world or their country having seemed much better X number of years ago, or a combination of the two, at some point, people (not everyone, but these specific people that I speak on) have to come to terms with the reality that they will never feel that good ever again. I want to ask everyone on here, how do you/they come to terms with that reality? Also another less important question that I just wanna ask as well; at what point after the person has "peaked in life" have they fully mentally processed the realty that the way their life (or the world for that matter) is today is gonna live with them for the rest of their lives?

Thank You for your time :)

We always look back and think it was "the good ol days".

That's only cause when we are young, we are more naive. Plus when we look back, we conveniently forget the bad stuff.

I guess my advise is - now that you are over 21, why not start doing and buying the things you were not able to before? Doesn't have to be extravagant or expensive, but just things you now have access to.

At 25, one still has a good 50 years (typically) of life to live.

My own best times in life were - of course childhood until age 15, but also after age 36 when I finally got my life back. Didn't have to look out for anyone but me.

@cinsac has a good philosophy. @BillyMack is correct about "hind sight".
How do you come to terms with reality ? .....necessity i suppose🤷‍♀

Its deal with it or die inside.

I also think your parameters, or rather, categories are possibly too limited.

Existence after 25 can be split into more categories as Life, opportunities and health change in events and stages.

As to 'peaking' in life: i wonder if you are only comsidering the average physical state?
There is so much more to life than that in which to 'attain' and strive for:
There's inner peace, cognition, spiritually, health, (in all its forms), sociality, wisdom, direction, meaning,
Contentment and many others.

Looking back, i consider the age bracket of 18 - 24 as merely the beginning of coming of age - the start of the journey. One is just out of innocence and childhood at that point - just stepping into independence and adulthood. Just starting to feel out the world, oneself and ones place within it all.
I only have the bandwidth and the time to deal with today. Tomorrow is over and gone, tomorrow might never come.

It's a simple way to live but I never worry, and I am always happy and grateful for what I have right now.
It’s unfortunate when people come to that conclusion, imo. Considering that the average human lifespan can reach the 80s, 90s…deciding you’re done after 24 is giving up pretty early in the game.
@bijouxbroussard she should wait at least until she is 40 to give up. LOL
As long as I'm alive my best days are yet to come.
@cinsac Exactly. 👍🏽

I tend to think we have several sets of “best days”, at various points in our lives. That mostly happens in hindsight though.

Not dwelling on the past. Live today as if you might be gone next week.

I have not accomplished that

I'm figuring it out now.

It’s all about perspective.
an exciting cocktail of self delusion, lack of self awareness, unfounded optimism, and slow realization that there's not a lot of other, reasonable options served slowly, repeatedly, as necessary.
geezass.. bet youre fun at parties 🤓
