how can I deal with neighbors cranking music every night?

I do call the cops non emergency number but I don't think they come or if they do they start it back up again when they leave, I do it anonymously cause I don't want to hear it from my neighbors later. cant sleep here and trains bothering me all night don't help, I tried to get another apt thru Catholic charities which owns the bldg and they didn't want to do the reasonable accomodations, they never sent stuff to my doctor either cause I asked her. I had been on a waiting list for Syr housing where I used to live, I've wanted to move back so I could be with my friends, tired of spending so much time alone where no one ever asks me to do nothing with them, not even in church, I go there and no one ever asks me to go out to lunch with them after, hardly anyone calls me or ever knocks on my door to visit, I lived in syr for yrs and I would have friends there to visit with but here I don't so I've thought of moving back, I was on their waiting list for 2 yrs and about a WK and a half ago, they called me and said they had an apt if I want it, I'm taking it. I'd rather live there even if its colder and more snow there and be with friends than constantly alone, I do go places like church and the senior center but other than that I'm always alone, not even neighbors visit me. my one friend has been helping me with packing and I'm paying movers to move my stuff, I'm in Colorado now. I only moved out of syr cause of resort jobs, I don't have to worry about income cause of social security, I'm moving in another WK. I'm taking the Amtrak there, didn't want to fly cause of all the crashes and planes catching on fire lately. I'm a little nervous but that's probably normal, cant wait to see friends I haven't seen in yrs. still in touch with some of them, I'll be getting an apt that goes with income. I am going to miss some people here but I cant be in two places at the same time. I hope I don't have to hear loud music there but that's a chance I'm taking, at least it wont be by the train tracks, any suggestions on how to make this move go smoother?

Your story just broke my heart. That is such a miserable way to live and I can't believe no one would empathize with you and try to help you. Not even the police. But I was so happy to see that you are taking steps and are going to move! I am so happy for you. You made a good decision and I pray everything runs smooth for you.
You could try white noise to drowned out their music, which there are a couple of free apps... or music headphones for music that you enjoy.

Personally, I've gotten a fan and run the fan at night for white noise and it helps me

@sstronaut I use a fan too but the music is louder than my fan

best way to handle it is almost always just to go and tell them how you feel. People tend to want to be kind and helpful, even if they're not good at it.

@MartinTheFirst didn't work

ps. When people put on loud music and I need to shut it out for a while, I put on my noise cancelling headphones. It's so nice.

@pearllederman come on now... too heavy on your head?
pearllederman · 61-69, F
@MartinTheFirst I tried it and it hurt my head to wear it

@pearllederman get a comfier pair, and consider if the loud music or the weight is worse. Maybe lay down in bed while you wear them so you can put the weight on the pillow.

Well why don't u report the music people to the building manager
pearllederman · 61-69, F
@smileylovesgaming I did and he said to call him when they're doing it but after him working all day I feel he has the right to sleep nights, I do call the non emergency police but I don't think they do anything. I like to be anonymous

Buy some ear muffs or plugs?
pearllederman · 61-69, F
@YoMomma I wear earplugs and run a fan and I still hear it

@pearllederman oh 😳

Record it and after you get a couple recordings, go to the police department and ask them what you can do, and tell them you don't want to call them and be hated in the aptments, cause all place have noise ordiences,
Is there a noise ordinance?
pearllederman · 61-69, F
@SomeMichGuy I think there is
@pearllederman Look it up...
