What makes someone better than you?

The phrase I prefer to use is better AT rather than better THAN. Saying better than infers that another person is better than you as a whole. Being that everyone has their own skills, abilities, and capabilities, it's not fair to say that someone is better than someone else. You may be better at math than I am, Simone Biles is better at gymnastics than both of us. What if I were a genius, the smartest person in the world but I ended up on the news because they found bodies stored under my house because I'm also a serial killer, would that still make me better than you in your opinion? It's just impossibly too broad to use that term .

Job-wise, someone with more qualifications than I have who fits the company's profile for the job.

Spiritually, a person who can forgive even the most atrocious of crimes. I have seen families forgive the killer of their loved ones. ''Better'' than me may not be the word, but perhaps ''different'', because I just wouldn't be able to.

A lot of things! I really like that about life. Endless opportunities to improve through the teachings of another. I think you can learn something valuable from anyone.

I don't believe in comparison.
All people have different talents and strengths.
Many people out there that can do several things better than I could.

They can't be if you don't compare. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.

While I acknowledge that many people may possess skills or qualities I do not, I hesitate to say that it makes them better than me.
