I don't know about the hearts specifically but you get coins for interacting in the feed, yes.

I found that it has a lot to do with replies. If you engage with a lot of posts or get a lot of engagement on your posts that seemed the quickest way to rack them up.
I think its s big secret that they don't tell us how to make points 😅 unless i missed it
