I Have a Question

Some last night some guy was talking about how similar Trump and Hitler are.

I mentioned that I study hard on history especially human atrocities and have a difficult time finding the similarity between the two.

So instead of answering me why he supports his claim he blocked me. Which is fine.

But I’m curious what you guys might think the similarities are.

Try to be educated on this.
I said that there were parallels between how Hitler engaged his followers when he was coming to power and how Trump has maintained hold on his supporters, including the pithy sayings.
Both boosted the egos of those they would lead with racist rhetoric, dividing them against anyone seen as “other” and charging that such people living within their midst are the reason for any hardships they’re experiencing. The rallies even after having been elected where Trump sows discord and demonizes members of the other political party instead of trying to unite the country would be another example.
@bijouxbroussard He also doesn't actually stand with authority on his points bit relies on going along with other politicians and officials, basically making him a puppet above the usual presidential pandering. His rhetoric rarely goes beyond just that. When it does it's so blatantly illegal or immoral that he's called on it and he's incapable of covering with propaganda. Plus there's just the cheap point out that he's ugly and fat. Heh.
@HorrorshowHijabi That does indeed sound very similar.
Italy eventually woke up and got rid of Il Duce. We’ll see how things play out here. 🤔
@bijouxbroussard well at the most he has 8 years. Just need someone competent to run against or there won't be a choice.

Apart from this meme I think another similarity is this:

BOTH were voted legally and from the moment they were elected they started to use their might in a very negative way (of course Hitler more than Trump).
@wexxxxcccc Obviously, Hitler and Trump.

@Loretta78 For clarification this isn’t an attempt to Defend Trump but to educate people who clearly have never delved further into history past high school social studies.

I strongly encourage people to research these things before attempting to use them.

The image table you used I know is a fast slapped together meme probably made by Occupy Democrats Facebook group. (Again not dissing any sides)

Anyway let’s begin.

• Yes both Hitler and Trump were elected via normal election. However Hitlers election path was forged with threats of violence.

If you look at the entirety of the 2016 race from it’s very beginning it was more of a domestic squabbling match amongst both parties.

When it finally came to Hillary and Trump it was a match of one claiming the other lied and the other denying it.

• Hitlers “deportations” were the first step to genocide of undesirables.

The deportations that we see today have been going on all the way back to the days of Bill Clinton. Including the black carding of Muslims from various nations. Example, Obama black listing citizens from Iraq for a time.

• Make America Great Again was Trump’s campaign slogan. But like any and every political leader they are going to promise to make their nation, state, town, etc better than it was. Not worse than it was. That should be common sense.

• Again anyone who pays attention to politics especially campaigns and the past 20 years will know immigration has been a big deal and a major topic from the past few presidents. But never has it been mentioned to be the biggest problem America is facing.

Hitler made points that Jewish, Communists, Non-German citizens were the issue by hoarding wealth in the banks, taking up commercial space with their own businesses.

For the US it’s simply illegal immigration that can strain resources from every US citizen.

• Special IDs given time Jewish prisoners were first seen as a forced yellow star that had to be worn. Failure to do so could very well result in being shot. This later turned into camp prisoners given numbered tattoos.

The IDs given to Muslims again have been a thing since 2011. They’re were brought up again during the Syrian crisis as there have been a number of acts of violence seen in the EU. Again not new...

To conclude this. I am not defending sides just trying to get people to dwell into deeper research.

If we continue to think memes are credible, well I can only imagine that most people won’t do well in the future.

@TakingBackMidgaard I think your points are well thought and factual. And this is the type of conversation I prefer as opposed all Trump supporters are idiots and should be blocked or all Democrats are radical communists. Your points are useful and allow open conversation rather than just cutting some one off or blocking them because they don't agree with your point of view.

The most amazing parallel for me is that Hitler's followers rationalised everything he did, no matter how wrong. This certainly did not apply to all Germans, many of whom felt incredibly powerless as they watched Hitler.

The difference is, Hitler was one of the most powerful and articulate speakers of the 20th century. He actually was intelligent. Trump is demonstrably inarticulate (can barely complete a sentence) and unintelligent. He is extremely shrewd and cunning, though. No, they aren't the same thing.

Like Hitler's true believers, Trump's followers swallow, without chewing:
Trump's lies (on video record telling the lies, denying them, etc), arrogance (nobody knows more about... than me. As he speaks he demonstrates his ignorance on most of those topics for anyone who is educated to see); stupidity (alongside his arrogance. Let's find a way to inject bleach, etc); blameshifting; megalomaniacal tendencies, his complete screwup of the COVID-19 to make America the world's basket case, etc.

Trump supporters rationalise it all. It's disturbing. It's all there on video record, but they somehow think he's on their side. He's demonstrably helping the 1% to a bigger share.

@Abstraction Actually Abstraction I do owe you an apology. You are right, it was not you who made the "head out of your ass comment" so I take back what I said and I sincerely apologise. I should had read this closer. It was actually that arrogant tard "quitwhendone"who made the comment. I would have actually told him to go f*ck himself, but again I am only suggesting it, not telling him what to do. Besides that, if he does go f*ck himself, he might poke himself in the eye, as he seems to subscribe to the idea that one's head is apparently located in ones ass. As to you sir, once again my apologies for misconstruing what you said.

@wexxxxcccc I appreciate that. You've just said a lot about who you are. I'm sure we could have a really civilised argument over a beer, :D or skip the argument altogether.
wexxxxcccc · M
@Abstraction I think so.

I don't believe Trump and Hitler are similar, but I think Vox did a really good segment on the parallels between Trump and Putin's propaganda styles. That's not to say they're equivalent either, but it's pretty fascinating and I'd recommend giving it a watch.

Looking at Trump speaking in public many of his hand movements and facial expressions are remarkably similar to those of Benito Mussolini which I find rather creepy
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@wexxxxcccc Wow you have a degree - I’m guessing it’s in Bagpiping as you appear to be a bit of a wind bag. I see little point in engaging with you further as it patently obvious you are set in your ways and what I might say will not influence you one iota. Do feel free to block me and have a nice weekend
wexxxxcccc · M
@Dlrannie And you appear to be a test pilot in a broom factory. You also have a nice weekend!
wexxxxcccc · M
@Dlrannie We should just stop this and get married...
wexxxxcccc · M
Exactly. And that is why the people who do this ( enter into a conversation about Trump and then block you) are small minded scared individuals who cannot stand some one even challenging their point of view. They do this not because they care about the country; they do it instead because of their fragile egos. They remind me of the bully in school who takes a poke at you and then runs away. They have ZERO credibility. They cannot think for themselves and they argue based on emotions not facts. They are scared little zealots who try to control the world by silencing people and blocking them, yet if they ever came to power they are dangerous and would have people killed for their thoughts. They are cowards who think they are the smartest people around. They have no skills for critical thinking and if we ever had to defend the country I would not want these people fighting beside me because they would become traitors. They like to pontificate around the table drinking tea, secretly thinking they are above anyone else, even the people they claim to stand up for. This is where the Stalins, the Mussolinis and the Chairman Maos come from. They are puffy balloon heads, hypocrites, elistist cowards who only care about themselves and their egos... and no one else.

This is no similarities. The guy is suffering what is know as "Trump Derangement Syndrome ". He can't deal with reality obviously.
wexxxxcccc · M
Now think about the fire storm this would have created if Trump would have said this:

"Joe Biden to black radio host: If you can't decide between me and Trump, you 'ain't black'

There would be a national investigation calling fir his head. But Biden can get away with it huh? That is why I fund a large segment of the left leadership to be total and complete hypocrites. You can't have any credibility or ethics when you allow one of your own to be racist but insist on bringing down another for his comments. This is primarily why I don't like todays left and as I said before I was a democrat and always believed in the philosophy. Identity politics, the witch hunt using the word racist for everyone conversation where a person has a different point if view, instead of going after true racists and the need of the leftist leaders to defend their back side at any cost. What a disgusting bunch. And yes I also realise there are Republicans like this too.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
Not really hard core similarities, such as personality, but similarities in behaviors, such as isolation of USA from the rest of the World, and an overall prejudice behavior, among other things, these are similar with Trump and Hitler. I’m not Jewish but I have several friends that are, they are all very concerned with the present administration’s behaviors.
They are a LOT alike.
wexxxxcccc · M
@quitwhendone yeah except one killed six million Jews and one didn't.
@wexxxxcccc That's not one of the similarities. We are discussing SIMILARITIES, not differences.
wexxxxcccc · M
@quitwhendone lol lol Jaysus.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
I think this a very accurate comparison in my opinion.
