No dinosaurs were harmed during the production of this film!

And so, my critique of Jurassic World: Dominion? I feel like it ends the series nicely. Sam Neil says that the series was never about the dinosaurs, but about the people. I disagree. It was always about the dinosaurs. If it was about the people, then none of the films would have succeeded because their story was just too weak. And also dinosaurs rule, and I'm glad they're back, even if it's in a fantasy world, to goose my imagination!

I saw it yesterday and would have to give it a 3 or 4 out of 10... pretty poor overall, personally.

@helsbels I noticed that a lot of people feel that way. For me, I just don't see any other way that it could have ended.

@helsbels @SpaceJesus bringing back the original cast was cringy or no? ghostbusters afterlife did a pretty good job of building new characters while including murray, aykroyd, hudson and (ghost) ramis

@SpaceJesus I'd give a detailed critique myself but it would just be too negative (and long!) It was too contrived, and inconsistent, and badly paced, it feels like it took the worst parts of at least 4 different bad action films of the last 30 years and threw it all in. And tacked a 'message' on it that was so forced and unearned, it seems to think it's making a grand statement when it came across like a d-list bargain basement knockoff.

@tenente Ghostbusters Afterlife is a perfect example of how to reboot a franchise. I hear it's getting a sequel!
@helsbels That's a good critique. Very nicely worded. It was great to see the old cast, but yeah, if the story had been about the humans, and not about the dinosaurs, it just wouldn't have worked at all. I'll have to give it another watch when it is released on digital

@SpaceJesus Sort of related, I did think Top Gun Maverick was a 10/10
SpaceJesus · 41-45
@helsbels I'm going to have to see that one, as well as the first one. I feel like I'm missing out!

@Darksideinthenight2 All I know is that if I can't be a Ghostbuster, I'm going to be a dinosaur wrangler. Both would look good on a resume
