If I were asked to take on that lifestyle now? Probably not. It would take a lot of time/experience to be able to get by like that. That was a rough way of life, lots of hard work/labor to merely scrape by
If I were born during that time, sure why not? It wouldn’t be a choice unless I were born into money.

dancingtongue · 80-89, M
Nah. If so, I would still be back on the farm picking cotton, cutting cots.
popmol · 26-30, M
@dancingtongue and thats no fun?
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@popmol Too self-limiting, imho, with no intellectual stimulation which I crave. Plus I was no good at it.
Not putting down rural life, farming, or ranching. It is hard, important work and having grown up in it I understand how it can be rewarding to people who enjoy that life, that connection with nature, and even find intellectual stimulation in it as Thoreau and others did and do. Just not for me.

@dancingtongue well then indeed you'd be no good!
I fantasize about it, but no.
How about you!?
How about you!?
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
No!
popmol · 26-30, M
@ninalanyon why not?
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@popmol I am not patient enough to put up with the ineffiency of mediaeval life. People had the knowledge and materials to make life so much better but the social, financial, religious, and governmental systems all conspired to prevent it. I would either have knuckled under and been miserable or spent my life complaining and being miserable.
popmol · 26-30, M
@ninalanyon yeah that seems right!
