RIP Owen Hart (1999) and Davey Boy Smith (2002). It was at a Denny's across from Mitchell International in Milwaukee. They were in town for some kind of wrestling contest of sorts. 😏
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
@Levenrack That's awesome, I used to love the bulldog when I was a kid.
Levenrack · 46-50, M
@SpectralMourning Yeah it was pretty surreal, we saw them when they came in. At first I didn't recognize them, just the fact that they were so fucking huge, especially Davey. After we paid, we walked up and said hi. I didn't even know they had a show in town. I stopped watching wrestling in the late 80s. 😁
QCDog2659 · 61-69, M
Sly Stone, Paul Revere, Ron Howard, Sammy Davis Jr, Brooke Shields, Sandy Koufax....have all met me.
QCDog2659 · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 I can.see how you can state, with certainty, that Mark was always involved with the band; until they ended in the early.2000's.
@QCDog2659 As I said, I knew the drummer, and his niece, you ONLY MET the figurehead
QCDog2659 · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 I am properly impressed.
Thrust · 56-60, M
Too many to possibly name. I’d see them every day at my job but didn’t often meet them.

My favorite that I met was Alice Cooper
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
I meet Derek Thomas at a bowling alley years ago (from the Kansas City Chiefs)
And many of the Street Outlaw drivers at a race.
Levenrack · 46-50, M
@Cigarguy I had to look him up, cause the name sounded familiar, but I couldn't put his face with the name. He passed away in 2000 from a car accident and I didn't know that.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@Levenrack yeah it was a very sad day in kc. He was loved by so many fans here.
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
Jay Pharoah (former SNL member that I met before he was famous), John Pinette (stand-up comedian I went to see on my birthday years ago)....no mega-stars I guess.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Tommy Lee (super thin)

Uma and Ethan when they were still married (cool couple )
NBA players Patrick Ewing , dikembe, John Starks, Darryl Dawkins , Shaun Bradley (all cool guys )

Football players Bernie Faloney and Tobin Rote together (I know what you're thinking... who??)

Angelo Mosca when he was a wrestler (probably another who? for most of you). I said something to him he didn't like - he made a move like he was going to run after me. I thought he was gonna KILL me.

@bijouxbroussard Even though I don't consider him a celeb, I did meet Sean Duffy once. In Medford WI, they have their Harvest Days Parade and he was in one, promoting his running for Congress. We saw him at the McDonald's afterwards and he was walking shaking hands and probing for questions. I just said I always rooted for him on MTVs Road Rules. He just laughed. I'm guessing he didn't get asked or told that very much.

And, fast forward 15 years since then, he's now working under The Orange Shitler. 🙄
@ThirstenHowl Yes, I went with some neighbors when the People’s Temple was in SF. I just went the one time, but they moved to Guyana and shared that fate.
@bijouxbroussard oh no, your neighbors were among those who died? That is awful.
Colin Farrell
John Travolta
Martin Sheen
Paul Henderson (NHL)
Several fighter/airshow display pilots - if that counts ???

Christopher Plummer
Sarah Ferguson Dutchess of York

DareToSayIT · 31-35, M
Only seen them from a distance.
In which fields?
@SomeMichGuy I've met astronauts, but a number of classical pianists, Nobel Prizewinners, and other notable people, but I was very blessed with being in the right places at the right times.

This person was a particular honor

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berthold_Beitz

He & his wife were Schindler‐esque in that they saved a number of Jews from Hitler's "Final Solution"...!
Musicman · 61-69, M
@SomeMichGuy That is so cool! I bet they had some good stories. 🙂
@Musicman When you CAN take time, it's really great, yes.

I like to look for shorter lines and try to find something heartfelt to say. I don't want to be "like everyone else"...
Golf immortal Gary Player
the ones I can recall:

Timothy Dalton
Joanne Whalley
Paul Winfield
Jean Smart
Jimbo Mathus
Dan Marino
Gary Hart
Sam Walton
Levenrack · 46-50, M
@ThirstenHowl Even though I'm a big NFL fan. I would easily pass up Marino for Joanne Whalley. 😍
exexec · 70-79, C

Musicman · 61-69, M
