If you use the bathroom at a store or food place do you feel like you have to buy something?

There are no public bathrooms at stores here unless you mean hypermarkets or shopping centers where bathrooms are in the same building but in separate space from the stores anyway. So nobody watches who uses them and when. So no.
And you usually don't enter a restaurant or a bar just to use the bathroom because that is considered rude, so yes, it would be appropriate to order something. Actually, I remember a place where they eventually got a door lock with a pin code because there were too many random people coming to them. 😆 Including us when we were 14-15 year old brats. We saw us as regular customers so we felt entitled to it. 😂

I’ve been to Barnes and noble bathroom many times and didn’t buy anything.
But if it’s a grocery store I often end up buying food.
