I once had a teacher tell me

That we only dream for a few seconds

I’ll happily disagree with that.

I’ve slept with the tv on sometimes what’s on tv seeps into my subconscious. My mind interprets the audio with feverish imagery.

I use to do that a lot. Now days I just sleep in the dark without audio and Imagine while I have my eyes closed. Sometimes I leave my computer on while youtube is playing.

@FreestyleArt That’s hard for me to do these days. My brain can’t really hone in silence. I need something on. A cartoon, scary stories or a comedy usually helps

While they are right and the deepest slept in truth last only a few minutes, what they don't say is our sense of time goes faster in that deep sleep.

So you're correct as well. It can seem endless.

Our sense of time in real life becomes shorter and shorter as we grow older as well.

A day to a awake baby, seems like forever.

While an awake old person just doesn't know where the whole day went 😞

Yet that dream time-sense seems to always remain the same, throughout our whole lives.

The teacher isn't wrong we only really dream for a few mins at night

We can't absorb information while deep asleep(3rd & 4th. REM stage). It would be fantastic if we could. Your teacher was right about the dreams only lasting a few seconds. After the dream your subconscious mind expands on it and plays it out for what seems like a long time.

@Samanthalovesmakeup 🤔i dream every night and it seems a while but really how can anyone honestly say they can measurethe length of subconscious dream. was a bit unfair of the teacher too say this as she is no exert in this field

It seems much longer than a few minutes.
I do that all the time while watching youtube docs.
