How much should you spend on a friends birthday gift?

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Should? A gift is a gift, there shouldn’t be a price guide. It could be something homemade or whatever if you want to give something.

@Sharky86 I hate when people think they ought to spend a certain amount for every occasion. It is the thought that counts and whatever is appropriate for that person. When people get older they understand that better. Besides people when they think back usually focus on experiences and not material things so much.
Bout… tree fiddy

Normally a cigar and a bottle of Makers Mark
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti normally the 46
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MarineBob Didn’t think it was gold label, that is really expensive stuff.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@Alisha233 under $50.00

To avoid this kind of unpleasant situation, me and all my local friends agreed to a "no gifts or at most one beer" policy
tallpowerhouseblonde · 31-35, F
Just put a label from you on a present someone else bought and throw their label away.😁
Alisha233 · 31-35, F
@tallpowerhouseblonde hahahaha well I don't think there will be an actual party with other readily available gifts...but I like your creative optimism. Hahahah I think I saw that done on a movie.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 31-35, F
@Alisha233 I saw a label swap done on a TV show it's where I got the idea from.

The money shouldn't matter if it's a "friend." 😌 It's the thought you've put in it that should matter.🎁💫
ZashaKitty · 26-30, F
I tend to normally spend up to a $100 on close friends
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
I also would like to know 👀
Alisha233 · 31-35, F
@DeluxedEdition I was thinking like $25 but the thing I'd like to get her is around $100. So I'm torn between getting something I know she will really like and being reasonable and saving to put towards my own bills.
Maybe I give her cash so she can save up towards the $100 item then when she can afford it, it will have more effort and value put into it.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Alisha233 nooooo don’t give her cash as a gift 😂

Get her the $25 gift that’s a very generous amount ❤️ I spend around that on gifts and I personally thought I was overdoing it

Maybe save up for the $100 gift and get it for her in the future xxx the month just started and we all have bills to pay 😉

Depends how much they spent on you?
familyfunguy · 56-60, M
Announce ahead of time that you guys don't buy each other gifts, just to make it easier.
If there's something I want I'll buy it myself.
Fluffybull · F
It shouldn't be about price, it should be about finding something that's just right for them.
SW-User
Is this a very close friend?
Alisha233 · 31-35, F
@SW-User yes, my best friend of more than 11+ years
