I didn't know that statue of Liberty 🗽 used to be all gold. It turned green overtime from the oxygen.

The dome on the capital building in state of Wyoming is, or at least was, gold covered. In fact that use to be quite common decades ago in many states.

As to the statue of liberty, I believe it was copper. Copper is notorious for turning green. Gold doesn't turn green and why gold is used for wedding rings. Never copper, because your finger turns green as well.

oxidation, just as iron rusts and turns red, copper "rusts" and turns green.
