Name some things you think are bitter in taste

I believe I have discovered an odd occurrence that quite a few people don't actually know what bitter is
Top | New | Old
(is more sensitive to bitterness)
Ethyl alcohol.
Key Limes (the smaller the lime the more bitter it is).
Decaf coffee. (it takes a lot more to roast decaf than it does any other)
Flan, tiramisu. 💜 (bittersweet but still)
Poorly made Kimchi.
Certain catsup/ketchup.
Spinach, kale...
...
I think I'm well aware of what bitterness is...

@Shybutwilling2bfriends which part of the lemon?
@Shybutwilling2bfriends Applies to any citrus, the most bitter being the lime.

@cherokeepatti Of those, I've only had mustard greens. They are bitter, but not strongly, from my experience.

@Amyrakunejo Bitter melon is over-the-top strong…some are stronger than others. Bitter melons and other bitter foods have health benefits. Dandelion greens and root is another one good for health.
@cherokeepatti I use dandelions as a salve base, for any salve I make that doesn't contain cannabis (cannabis will make the oil from dandelions mushy-not good for medicinal purposes but okay-ish for baking).

Bitter melon
SlippingAway · 46-50, F
Dark chocolate above 80%
@SlippingAway Yummy, though. Especially this one I like that has Himalayan Pink Sea Salt; like biting into a piece of steak, it is.
@tobynshorty More of a bitter smell; it's more savory when made correctly.

Celery, lemons, salt
@BlobbyMcBlobface It would be more obvious if the sea salt was actually Capsaicin.
(it would also cause people to have issues with their eyes)

@Amyrakunejo Thankfully its not turmeric, I'd be yellow now 🤭
@BlobbyMcBlobface And that would be the least of your worries.
persimmon if not ripe enough
@cherokeepatti Not just there either.
And that's a minor issue compared to what other issues await.
@Amyrakunejo @cherokeepatti

Y'all are right. I have persimmon in my yard. Made mistake only once eating one that wasn't quite right.

Gagged for quite awhile
@Bexsy Oh nice! Persimmon is kinda hard to grow (I couldn't get it to grow in my garden)...

@aboveaverageaveragejoe do you also think vinegar is bitter?
@Jackaloftheazuresand i guess asking with the acidic taste.
@Jackaloftheazuresand I know I don't; it's far more sour to me than bitter.
