I think selecting Elon Musk was a very smart move.
If Elon can run a company that big to carry out space Missions which even NASA finds hard to manage, then he can definitely give his innovating ideas to The US Administration.

Go read a full summary of how musk acquired those companies. Look at what he has done to ruin some of them, what his input produces. Then, ask yourself what he'd be worth without the billions he has received from the govt. In essence, you funded, without your approval, his rise. As a matter of fact, y'all complained mightily that elon was getting subsidized for tesla, and consumers were getting purchase incentives. Then go read about who was investigating, from which departments, violations by musk. Then read about who got canned. Look at the teenage goons musk has hired to steal our country. Read about their views and history. Then, after you've done that...come back and holler...FAKE NEWS!! Because you are in a cult.

We NEED the CFO of several huge companies...which Elon IS...AND his staff of AI geniuses...to make sense of the massive, ungainly behemoth of our Federal spending.

@4meAndyou They hired a CEO of a company in Australia to be director of one of the university departments (after I retired). He continued to direct his company by phone after work hours. But he was so much more respectful to the employees and even got them some good raises due to the way he was running the department. If he had been there about 10 years before I retired I’d probably have stayed longer. My friend worked in the area where he was at and he was very engaging and friendly to her, treated her like a human and not like a work-slave.
He may own the company, but I doubt he actually runs it. Experts do that. As far as I know Musk has never invented anything, just bought existing companies and ideas and made money off other peoples' genius.
What you're not understanding is that the innovating ideas behind Tesla cars and SpaceX rockets did not come from the mind of Elon Musk. They came from the minds of scientists who thought of them, not Elon's.
Elon Musk is the money guy, not the inventor. Like Donald Trump with Trump Corp, Elon musk acts as the 'front man' who acquires investment in his product or bank loans to fund them. That's all that Elon does in his own business world and that's all that Donald Trump ever did when the Late Fred Trump ran Trump Corp in New York.
NASA had a way better track record than SpaceX before the conservatives and Republicans decided to gut NASA and let Private Business profit off it instead..
Space X is a disaster compared to the old NASA and it's pathetic that we ever defended NASA
