He doesn't care about conquering Iran. He cares about their ties to global banking and who gets what. That's the conquest. Iran is a pawn in the game. Trump probably struck because they were falling apart and on the brink of revolution.

@Munumbis Easy to swear about a regime neither you nor I would wish upon ourselves; but the USA was persuaded by Israel to attack Iran for no benefit to anyone, with no planning, no consultation and no regard for consequences, least of all for the umpteen million Iranians themselves.
One of those consequences of course, more control of the Straits of Hormuz by Iran, and to its financial gain!
