1. It’s the USA.
2. Most voters don’t have a college education.
3. It’s becoming disturbingly increasingly popular to vote not for a candidate that will make things better for oneself but instead for a candidate who will make things terrible for people one doesn’t like.
4. The outdated electoral college (the first time).
5. Voters were inclined to give Trump a pass for Covid but not to give Biden a pass for the inflation that inevitably followed Covid (the second time).
6. The Democratic Party has a knack lately for nominating lackluster candidates.
7. Voters observed that the economy was good during the Trump years and bad during the Biden years and didn’t think any deeper than that.
8. Biden insisted on running for reelection until it was clear he couldn’t win, and then it was too late.
I’ll let you know if I think of some more.

78 million people fell for his lies and promises, and 17 million people that voted for Biden stayed home instead of voting for Harris 🤷♂

"Because the USA has always had a significant vein of fascist bigotry and Trump knew how to mine that vein and exploit its ignorance."

The short version is that a large portion of the country is so angry with the political establishment that they want to burn it all down. MAGA is basically the result of Democrats failing to materially improve people's lives.
There's a lot more too it, but that's the shortest short version.
