@sunsporter1649 Isn't one of the main objectives of Trump's immigration policy to create more and better paying jobs for American citizens?
jehova · 36-40, M
@ron122 no I like people that work and pay taxes. Neither DJT nor congress are adequately paying taxes. Vote to cut their own tax obligations while giving themselves a raise. The America i believe in is about equality not a political elitist class. We are a step away from the Roman Empire when it collapsed.. overextended and aged out

@jehova Well grand, we shall make taxes equal, the current 90% of wage earners that are paying 10% of Federal income will have their taxes raised to put them on a level with the top 10 % of wage earners who pay 90% of Federal income tax, who will have their taxes lowered to put them on a level with everyone else. Whats fair is fair, right?

@sunsporter1649 Can we have some numbers around that, please?
What is the total revenue raised by federal income tax?
What is the total number of wage earners paying federal income tax
Thanks

@newjaninev2 Here's the deceit wrapped in the vague generalization. Cons love to talk about "federal income tax" because that phrase omits so-called Social Security & some other FICA taxes which are a big part of middle-class tax burdens.
To get real specific, for 2024, our social security tax rate of 6.20% is capped at the first $176,100 of income. Beyond that income level, earners pay zero extra social security tax. In other words, the max social security tax for ALL earners is capped at $10,918.20.
And that is why billionaire Warren Buffet could demonstrate that his middle class secretary paid a higher tax rate (double) than he did. The lower capital gains rate makes the rate differential more extreme.

Buffett's secretary since 1993, Debbie Bosanek, sat next to her boss just hours after being invited by the president to the State of the Union address, where the president made her the face of tax inequality in America.
Bosanek pays a tax rate of 35.8 percent of income, while Buffett pays a rate at 17.4 percent.

@ElwoodBlues Thank you for that... informative and factual as always. Mister Buffett (yes, I certainly do respect him) has long argued that he, like his ilk, is not taxed anywhere near enough... and this from the 5th-richest person in the world 😀

Or did you change the subject because you can't defend the tRump tax rates???
Whats fair is fair, right?

So you are NOT seriously trying to claim it's fair that Warren Buffet's secretary Bosanek pays a tax rate of 35.8% of income while Buffet pays a rate at 17.4%.
Instead you are trying to change the subject away from fairness because you can't defend the tRump tax rates. Good to know.

@sunsporter1649 Do you think it's acceptable that Buffet's secretary pays a marginal rate of tax less than half that of her boss?

@sunsporter1649 My daddy grew up poor, served in WWII; went to college on the GI bill, and put me thru college. You aren't fit to kiss the ground he walked on.
