To a large degree, if and when persons of wealth and power “morality check” their actions, the things that carry the most weight, imo, are as follows:

1. Is everybody doing this? (“By everybody”, they mean “everybody at my elite level.”)

2. What are the odds I’ll get caught?

3. If I am caught and convicted, what might be the penalty?

He knows it’s a lie, but if he repeats it enough it penetrates into his cultists’s brains.
