@Carla I agree. The saddest thing to me is that these are genuinely good people, many of whom have difficulty making ends meet, who have been massively misled for a long time. They have been conditioned to hate their fellow citizens and to oppose their own self-interest, ceding it to an authoritarian demogogue who cares solely for himself. They are just a mechanism to achieve his ends, and will be discarded whenever necessary. Some of the January 6 insurrectionists are realizing that now.

@windinhishair I worked at a Baptist church camp during the summers of 2006-2012. I’m a Democrat myself and was in a deep minority among the staff in that way. In fact, people often felt comfortable discussing Republican politics out in the open, believing that nobody would be offended or argue against them. In particular I felt unwelcome there when they repeated a popular belief there that Obama was the anti-Christ.

Now how about you look at the other thousands of hours? Why don't you watch the guy pitch a fire extiguisher at a policeman's head. Or watch police get beaten with poles and sprayed with bear spray? Or get beaten to the point of unconsiuosness. Or how about people deficating and smearing it like a petulant two year old, having a tantrum? Or breaking windows?
How about babbitt trying to forcefully entering a chamber, when being ordered to stand down? You people are all about eliminating threats by force.
No one knew who or what she was. Whether she was armed or not. She was part of a violent horde.
They were chanting "hang mike pence". Do you think the capitol police, and the people guarding the house members should have thought...nah, they are just kidding?
