are there any smart conservatives out there ? I'd love a decent debate but so far not one can hold a decent convo to defend their god and saviour Trump or any of their ideals and values for that matter.

The problem is with your premise. Sadly, the concept of "conservative" has been overtaken by people who worship "their god and saviour, Cry-Baby-trump." That actually has absolutely nothing to do with conservatism. In fact, in many aspects, it is the opposite of what "true conservatives" actually value. "The base" of voters who are thrilled with Cry-Baby-trump, the menace, are not conservative. Anyone can self-apply any label they fancy to themselves with reckless abandon even when they favour things that are not fitting with said label.

@SilkandLace2 True. Kamala is such a disappointment. Almost as bad as Pence. It was insane to see Pence in high profile televised meetings trying to blend into the white paint on the wall. Not a word from Pence.

It examines the history of right-wing ideology from an intellectual perspective (the two hosts are leftists, one is a former right-winger who spent his college days in right-wing Claremont Institute circles). Really interesting. Super academic, but it's interesting to learn about the right in a context other than Trump/QAnon insanity.

Even with Trumpism, there were moments and cultural shifts in American history before Trump that led up to the current insanity. It's all part of a continuous story that didn't just start with Trump.

It's a needle in a haystack. Today's conservatives are unable to discuss what they're "for." Certainly not with any nuance. What they do is attack, blame and whine. "Against" is their lane. Because that only involves feeeeelings which are easily accessible and manipulated. It's disgusting because we all pay for it in some way or another.
