Hitler did not start with his Final Solution campaign until 1941. He was voted in because he was charismatic and he stayed in power because he did wonders with the economy in the post WW1 years when the world had plunged into economic recession. People's salaries rose by about 20%.

The Germans voted in what they thought was a great leader

@InOtterWords ‘you can see a similarity to the islamophobia today.’ There is no such thing as islamophabia. Or does it give similar symptoms of claustrophobia and can be worked on with a psychologist? ‘Phobia’ outside of the proper medical definition is left wing political talk for ‘you are not allowed to hold that negative opinion’. It’s pathologizing opinions, which is a bad road to go down.

@InOtterWords Hey there Ottergirl. I've not read it all, been kinda busy and I'm going away for today.

But yes... people should try to figure out more of this era. It's a bit more complex, and I think... in our "popular minds", it's been warped by pop culture and myth building that happened after the war.

Donald Trump took more than one page out of his playbook... HIS opening salvo blamed Mexican's and it never got any better... and Americans actually voted this bastard into office and then the anti semites crawled out from under their rocks and Jews started getting murdered in synagogues in America, on the street in America - because they were Jews.. never - EVER happened before Trump.. and he said - there were good people on both sides... Americans in the MILLIONS voted for him... He said and did these things despite having a Jewish Daughter and Jewish Grandchildren... He said and did these things despite doing good for Israel... it was on HIS watch that the creeps who supported him crawled out from under the rocks and he did ZERO to control them or keep them from killing Jews in America...
@pianoplayingsteve
then why did trump issue tweets asking the crowd to disperse peacefully?
LONG after he should have, and note he didn't use the power of the Presidency to actually stop or quell things...he used his "bully pulpit" to exhort his followers to "fight"...but the Jan. 6 Cmte. has been all over this ground.
Hitler did vastly improve the economy, yes
The Krupp family fortune brought weapons from their own steelworks into existence as they re-armed Germany for a second "world war", as for the first.

There were a billion marks spent personally to make this happen.
@pianoplayingsteve Sorry, dude.
Your Churchill alleged quotation "not against Hitler or National Socialism but against the strength of the German people" appears to be a false quote.

(Allegedly 1955, in Emrys Hughes, British Bulldog, 145.) • Not in Hughes, nor anywhere else.
https://richardlangworth.com/quotes-churchill-never-said-2

This guy on reddit searched as well:
[sep][sep][sep]
So neat trick, if you search for a quotation in Google, it will bring back pages in which that entire quotation is found. So I did that, and got this page.

Looking through the results, I see a Google Books result that sources the quotation to a work entitled Winston Churchill: British bulldog: his career in war and peace by Emrys Hughes. Unfortunately, when you use Google books to search that work for the quote, nothing shows (the word Jesuit, for example, comes up nill on the search).

But here is where I need to mention the problems I've encountered. The work that sources the quote to Hughes is by a man named Benton Bradberry, and reading the jacket of his book, it appears he's a Holocaust denier and Nazi apologist, so I can't say I trust anything he says without verification. Further, the fact that he's using the quote, attributing it to another work in which it does not appear to exist, suggests that there are real problems with the quotation.

I obviously haven't spent too much time searching, but the only "evidence" I can find supporting it comes from sources that are not trustworthy in the slightest (seriously, the number two search result is friggin' Stormfont). So I would error on the side of it being apocryphal until proven otherwise.

What the reddit guy is saying is that a book by a holocaust denier FALSELY quotes the Emrys Hughes bio of Churchill.

I don't, because there's no real evidence. I'd love for there to be an afterlife, though. Hopefully that is the case.
But for now, there's no logical reason to believe in reincarnation or any kind of afterlife.

@Carazaa You are the one pushing for killing innocents. NOT ME! Take the plank out of your eye so you can see more clearly to take the speck out of other's eyes. You are the one pushing for murder and claiming righteousness despite the WORDS of Jesus. [big]"So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish".[/big]
I wish more people would realize this, and stop getting their information from the media. The media highly promotes hatred and separateness. Fear sells. And the media is all about follow-the-money, just like any other corporate entity.

@PhoenixPhail IDK why people talk about "the media" as if it were one monolithic thing or some shit; all media outlets vary in political leanings and credibility. What's important is that you understand the biases of the sources you're looking at, and apply that knowledge when you figure out what to believe. Here's a good website that can help with that:

@PhoenixPhail And where do you recommend we get our news?
eMortal · M
People seem to forget it started this way. They voted him because he redirected their anger toward the Jewish community, just like some leaders now tend blame it on immigrants and/or people of colors. When one of those neo-nazi leader wins the election, you see the exact same fascist laws and regulations being implement. Travel restrictions, detention centers, voting right taken away etc.

It's easy to lay the blame on Hitler, but he's the tip of the spear. The people who voted for him, did not need any arm twisting.

It's pretty simple, when it comes down to it. If I'm listening to my car radio, and a country music song comes on, I switch the channel.

The same goes for the 70M Americans who voted for Trump, especially the MAGA hard core crowd.
Mass formation psychosis.
The same thing is going on now, world-wide.
Great post.

A number of people don't want to hear that parallel, but it's obvious to tjose who know history.

Thank you for that. 😊

It's not just nazis... we see them all over the place even today. They're extremists, they're loud, they make people feel bad about themselves, and they revel in the confusion and the power they have.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@MartinTheFirst yeah, the ones pushing for divisive identity politics, western ethnic replacement, anti nationalism, obesity, over representation of mixed race and homosexual couples on tv, anti holocaust questioning laws, abortion rights, hate speech laws etc are NAZIS 🤦‍♂️
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@pianoplayingsteve theyre not nazis but they're something equally bad

On the Adolf Hitler page, its more about Donald Trump.
How come Putin isnt mentioned?Hes worse surely?
pdqsailor1 · 61-69, M
@wonkywinky No one with a check book to get such a balloon feels that way about Biden.. The whole world saw this balloon flying, the Queens family ducked out of meeting him to the greatest extent possible.. the UK and the world looks at him for what he is - a dangerous clown.. As to your Lord Mayor.. Trump's full ban on Muslims might just have aggravated him .. Face it Trump is a dangerous CLOWN.. You might like him but you are in the minority...
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
@pdqsailor1 Trump had that right surely, ban Muslims etc?If only.
No im sure many Brits would welcome him as P.M nowadays.
Carazaa · F
@wonkywinky
How come Putin isnt mentioned?Hes worse surely?
I do not believe he is worse! I think he is a murderer, and is a danger to democracy, to America, and to the world, just as dangerous as Hitler, and Puting. I think they are friends, and agree on politics.

@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy I agree. Nazism is inverted communism. Communism creates one big global state with the races mixed into one but all at each other, with a centralised state economy. Whilst Nazism puts the races into separate racial nationstates which each have a centralised state economy.

Racism was pretty much standard at the time and he didn't campaign on the Holocaust, in fact, he barely alluded to it. The DOJ IS the real danger to freedom. You might learn one day to stop treating your countrymen like chattel and try taking your own advice mkay?
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@lumberjackslam carazaa - whilst we are friends - will ignore what you said and then accuse you of defending some sort of ism or hate and then say you are wrong because you are an ist or hateful. So therefore she’s right whatever you say.

Lots of reasons: economic crisis, rage at Treaty of Versailles, weak government, right wing propaganda, history of antisemitism.
We might not see eye to eye on religious issues, but you are dead on with this point. Fear leads to hatred, every single time. And sadly, there are politicians all too willing to exploit fear to secure power.
Carazaa · F
