Do you wish we lived longer in general?

WillaKissing · 56-60
No not since losing my son to suicide on 10-21-2019 at the age of 21. My daughter distancing herself from me, and being single 17 years come May 4th, 2024, no not really.

@OlderSometimesWiser They started to improve a tad February 21st, 2024, very slowly but who is counting.
@WillaKissing Better than nothing though, yes? You’ve both been through what seems to me like the ultimate trauma. I’d imagine that healing, to the extent there can be, would be a lengthy, baby-step kinda process.

My friends and I, when going through tough times, always say we wish we had a magic wand to take all the pain away. So hard to see the people you care about suffering. But life just ain’t that simple and the older you get, the more you realize it.

@OlderSometimesWiser Yes, baby steps and the older I get the more I realize life is cruel.

For me, it's not the length of time so much as the terminal ailments you're predisposed to the older you get.

Diabetes; heart disease; dementia; macula degeneration; deafness; increased risk associated with cancer etc. that make later life so difficult to cope with

Yes. And, on the assumption we survive that long, humanity should very well see a life expectancy of about 140. Maybe, just maybe 150.

I'm about a third of the way there.

Personally, I'd love to live substantially longer than that.

Oh yes. I wish we were immortal. Being immortal would be great. I'd be able to do all the things I wanted too. Actually not we, just me and whoever I saw fit to accompany me.

For as much BS I've experienced, surprisingly yes I do.

No I can’t wait for the day I die and be reborn in a better world
