A very curious child. I had deep conversations growing up about the world, space, etc We slept outside on my parent's deck, or at a neighbor's in their yard and in a tent at my best friend's house. Wonderful childhood having deep conversations for kids so young.
What a lovely post. The little lady in yr photo looks very sweet and smart!
I'll share two pics. One represtents very well how I spent idealic hours walking in the countryside with my day and our dog many times a week. Anorak and wellies was my standard dress. Treasured memories. Happy times. The other represents playing in the street with my pals. Kerby was a game we spent hours playing. The sound of that ball bouncing all day long must have driven the grown ups crazy. I was a proper tomboy. Always in tracksuits and pumbs with very short hair. I often got mistaken for a boy!
kinda like me back in 1976 when i went to camp with my school and parents were allowed to come and chaperon...my mom couldn't make it, and on the first night at the camp fire eating roasted marsmallows and whatnot, i left the group and bawled my eyes out
I was never inside, never groomed or proper. I was always outdoors meeting animals and bugs and talking to trees. People didn't like me, but animals did. Not much has changed in that regard.
@fun4us2b I’m from Germany and there were those posh bikes called Bonanza but I grew up in a poor family and we couldn’t afford them. We had two bikes for four children at some point, which was sheer luxury. Before that, I cycled with the old bike of my dad in a strange fashion as I couldn’t reach the saddle. They are like your Schwinns?
@Rickichickie yes, the very same style. Funny, the house across the street the grandkids (twin boy and girl) visited from Germany every summer for 2 weeks and we shared our bikes and played together....a nice memory I had forgotten...
@bijouxbroussard I dont think anyone ever captured the real me. The early photos always feature me outdoors on family walks etc. The real me liked eating soil and bigging up plants for sure - playing in deep snow etc (we used to get that) - but it was also me doing jigsaws and building towers out of wooden blocks. No one thought that worth capturing...
