That's nice for now. But if you're also on medicare or have a Medicare Advantage plan there are more notes in your future. But they won't be from Social Security. They will be from the likes of your provider saying they can no longer accept you as a patient due to cuts in Medicare.

That's not true though. Social Security taxes will be applied... BUT... depending on your age and income, you will get an extra $6000 you can deduct from your total taxes (that include taxes taken out for social security).
The new bill targets individuals with modified adjusted gross incomes below $75,000 and couples below $150,000.
While the White House is claiming the bill reduces Social Security taxes, it doesn't eliminate them. The Social Security message is at best misleading and if its intentional it's "fake news" because it isn't true.

It is a better deal for current retirees.

@LamontCranston I'm one of them and will appreciate the extra bucks

Stop listening to doom and gloom libs who wanted to raise your taxes 67% and let Trump do his thing.

What tax free money? Do people work after retirement?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LamontCranston
I will compute it for you. Annual food cost $9,600 ($800x12 months). I own my house outright (no mortgage). Property tax $2000. Utilities $2000. I don't own a car. Did I leave out anything? If not, I have plenty left over to cover contingencies which are few and minor.
This in on $25000 a year? This does not compute.

@LamontCranston Thank you for pointing to things I left out. I don't drink alcohol. No medicines. Dental visits twice a year $300. I do use Lyft about 4 times a month 4 x $ 20 x 12 = $ 240. Gym at the YWCA $180 ($15/month). Total additional $720. Plenty left over still.
Why are the utilities number incredible? How much do you pay for water and electricity?

The current administration does have rather a short term focus on everything. No respect for Newtons third law at all.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I see what you did there.
