I just got a note from social security - United Sates Retirement

They won't be collecting taxes on Social Security payments - not sure when it starts but boy howdy

it's shame the new bill will add 3 trillion to the debt over the next ten years for my grandchildren to pay but...

at least I can get some tax free money - yikes

That's nice for now. But if you're also on medicare or have a Medicare Advantage plan there are more notes in your future. But they won't be from Social Security. They will be from the likes of your provider saying they can no longer accept you as a patient due to cuts in Medicare.

@MoveAlong It appears that between 2026 and 2034 there will be $409-500 billion cut in Meidcare due to a law known as the "Pay as you go act" unless Congress acts.

@Pretzel You have to dig. It's front loaded to cut Medicaid. But from 2027-34 it will cut 490B from Medicare.

@MoveAlong not surprised they hid it. When it goes into effect the insurance companies, health care and retirement groups will have a field day and vote out the incumbents en masse

@Pretzel Uneducated and people from poorer families in rural America were instrumental in electing TACO. They are the ones who are going to be hurt most from these cuts. And they don't even know it.
