Yep. One of the biggest scams going.

Where I'm living in the UK, the hellish welfare state, there is a local mentally ill man. He is being given welfare (whilst also committing benefit fraud) to exist, and spends that existence assaulting people, trashing the house he shares with other struggling people, ordering takeout after takeout, buying endless cigarettes and then the tax payer, on top of paying for his housing and drugs, will then be paying for his inevitable treatment costs.

@Therealsteve Except facts and definitions matter. Words are not just whatever you make up on the spot for your narrative.
I am not avoiding anything. You are the one pretending a Thatcher/Reagan era stereotype is a real problem.
And more random speculation to desperately pretend you have a valid point instead of just 50 year old stereotypes of the poor.

@Therealsteve And you think something might be fraud? Is your country determining the law based on vibes now?

I agree that property tax schedules may be uneven and unfair to some. But who is going to pay and maintain that road to your house, the water and power lines and police and fire services to protect them if there are no taxes? (that's just some of what your taxes pay for)
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
I pay just over 5000$ a year and I’m okay with it because it supports local schools, police, fire, ambulance and other services

@SunshineGirl I ain't like that at all!
SinlessOnslaught · M
@BohemianBabe You do all that yourself?
BohemianBabe · M
@SinlessOnslaught I was actually being just a wee bit cheeky.
Of course I'm ok with paying taxes for those services, I just don't think property taxes should be a thing. Especially if you're renting the place you live in.

Taxation is currently at a extreme imbalance where the wealthy are able to write off even housing as a tax deduction.
Eliminate at least these deductions, better still increase the darn taxes on the very wealthy. So that the average person can afford anything.
Yes they write off their housing and transportation! It's a business deduction.
Is it no wonder that less than the top 1% make more than the bottom 90% combined? 🤷🏻♂

Umm no. Taxation is not theft. You drive on roads and other infrastructure, public services, etc. They are not funded by pixie dust.
Anyone who thinks taxation is theft seem to have absolutely no idea how the services they use are paid for and seem to think it happens by magic.

It absolutely is theft!! We shouldn't have to rent our home from the government.🤬
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
How else would you propose paying for the roads you drive on, the rule of law you rely upon to stop others from taking possession of your home?
Of course, using these services wirhout paying for them would be a form of theft . .

@SunshineGirl I would like to see the infrastructure in his area. Maybe they're actually doing something with the money. But if not...
Aidan · 26-30, F
@SinlessOnslaught There’s pot holes everywhere but I mean the taxes could at least be more affordable.

What's bad is if you improve your property they charge you more taxes

@SunshineGirl they do not improve roads because very few people use them as their primary form of transportation they should be paid for with a different type of fund taxes on fuel should go for actually road improvement for the automobiles that are paying the tax. I think that we should just tax every bicycle 15 to $20,000 when you purchase it and that can be used to put in bike trails.

Taxing the profits of monopoly corporations is too good for you.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@Roundandroundwego Corporations and the rich definitely don't pay their fair share.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow because Americans voted to allow them to ride the population. Bipartisan fascism. Unanimous.
