Taxation is theft, especially property taxes.

You pay off your house but taxes are $3000 a year and you pay off your car but it’s $300 a year. (I know car tax isn’t in every US state) Like it’s so frustrating where does it end. 😩

Where I'm living in the UK, the hellish welfare state, there is a local mentally ill man. He is being given welfare (whilst also committing benefit fraud) to exist, and spends that existence assaulting people, trashing the house he shares with other struggling people, ordering takeout after takeout, buying endless cigarettes and then the tax payer, on top of paying for his housing and drugs, will then be paying for his inevitable treatment costs.
@Therealsteve The entire point of a welfare state is to support people who are struggling. That is literally what the word means. So no that is not fraud.

And whether someone deserves assistance is not determined by vibes. Truth be told some of the problems you described speak to an underfunded system more than anything.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow A complex issue cannot be distilled down to one grand point. Please do not engage in oversimplification to such a level, you are better than that.

"Truth be told some of the problems you described speak to an underfunded system more than anything". There is a rule in the hostel he is in that pets are not allowed. Another man came in to live there. Aware of the rules, he immediately started bringing in a dog that would trash the place. Explain how "underfunded systems" forced him to do that.
@Therealsteve They only one oversimplifying things here is you. Making all kinds of wild claims with nothing to back it up.

So now you are claiming someone doesn't deserve assistance over a no pets policy?....ok.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow You simplified a complex issue right down to the singular point "it helps people who are struggling". And now you distil what I said down to one line. And you aren't the one over simplifying things? Ok then.
@Therealsteve That is not an oversimplification. That is literally why welfare programs exist. Words have definitions and meanings for a reason.

Again. I am not the one who suddenly made this contingent on a no pets policy.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Simplifying a complex issue that crosses different national, cultural, religious, ethnic etc factors down into one sentence is the definition of oversimplification.
@Therealsteve Sounds more like you want to change the subject because you can't support your hot take.
@Therealsteve You say it is complicated and yet you presented this person as a walking cliche.
@Therealsteve You reduced this person's entire existence to a stereotype.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow You reduced -oversimplified- an entire issue down to a sentence. I made no attempt to say I wasn't presenting an anecdote in that case...
@Therealsteve No, I provided a definition. Words matter.

And no, you presented a stereotype as an excuse to punch down at people who actually need social services. And it was worded in such a way as to present it as the norm, not a random anecdote.

Nice backpedal though.
@Therealsteve He has a point.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow no, you oversimplified a complex issue down to one sentence. No one asked you for a definition and it took a long time for you to claim you were making a definition that no one asked for. And now you are avoiding the fact that you did that entirely.

Also im pretty sure that declaring no savings so that you get more welfare, whilst having significant savings that you regularly use to buy things with whilst on welfare if is in fact fraud.
@Therealsteve Except facts and definitions matter. Words are not just whatever you make up on the spot for your narrative.

I am not avoiding anything. You are the one pretending a Thatcher/Reagan era stereotype is a real problem.

And more random speculation to desperately pretend you have a valid point instead of just 50 year old stereotypes of the poor.
@Therealsteve And you think something might be fraud? Is your country determining the law based on vibes now?
