Public service anouncement

IRS does not send text or e-mail messages regarding tax refunds. If you get one report it to phishing@irs.gov then delete it. For goodness sake do not click on any links it has or reply to it.

MORE public service announcements...if you are a former GEEK squad subscriber, but you haven't had them for years, and then you suddenly receive a GEEK squad invoice from TWO private email addresses, do not reply or click on any links. No need to report...as GEEK squad doesn't have time to do anything about it. Just click on SPAM and don't think about it further.

IF you receive an email from ETSY, saying that someone is using something that is ALMOST your email address but isn't, (quite), stating that someone is trying to log in to your ETSY account, you can mark that one as SPAM also, and there is no way to get hold of anyone at ETSY. There is also no such thing as an ETSY account.

I have to tell my dad multiple times a week not to click on anything from an unfamiliar address, even if it looks official. I've shown him time after time after time to look at the email address. It's never, ever an official irs.gov email address from these people, and it's almost always a Gmail address, usually a random keysmash.
No robo calls in the US? Those are the ones I've gotten from Canada Revenue Agency telling me thyre minutes away from issuing an arrest warrant

@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Yeah they call on the phone too. One time they called the IRS commissioner on his office number. Made for an amusing news item.
@justbob that is a pretty good one. I guess it's not available on YouTube though 😭

Same with Paypal.
They only contact you through the mail and they NEVER ask for you social security number or birth date . Any phone call from the IRS is absolutely a scam
