IRS does not send text or e-mail messages regarding tax refunds. If you get one report it to phishing@irs.gov then delete it. For goodness sake do not click on any links it has or reply to it.

I have to tell my dad multiple times a week not to click on anything from an unfamiliar address, even if it looks official. I've shown him time after time after time to look at the email address. It's never, ever an official irs.gov email address from these people, and it's almost always a Gmail address, usually a random keysmash.
