One of the most over rated Christmas movie is "It's a Wonderful Life"

And every year networks shove it down our throats like it's the only Christmas movie ever made.

Why?

It's a Wonderful Life initially received mixed reviews and was unsuccessful at the box office, it became a classic Christmas film after it was put into the public domain, which allowed it to be broadcast without licensing or royalty fees.

Yet another example of how money and consumerism dictates how we perceive holidays.

The story about an evil banker profiting on a mishap of an honest man and driving another to suicide, a young wife to widowhood and his children into poverty is a seasonal favorite of the demented satanic people in charge.

You gotta watch it and pretend you like it. Or they might destroy you.

Lucky for you there are other channels, you don't have to watch it. But it IS a Christmas Classic!! "It's a Wonderful Life" just happens to be my favorite classic Christmas movie ever! I watch it every year and I have my own copy. It has many great messages of what truly matters in Life ❤️

@lifesatrip so very true my friend!! I love it!!😊 it's a feel good movie. They don't make movies like this much anymore.
lifesatrip · F
@Indy74 Sad but true, they certainly do not make movies like this anymore
cuppatea · 31-35, F
@lifesatrip Thank God. The movie is a cheesy - poorly acted piece of garbage.
Piper · 61-69, F
I like the movie, and can surely choose not to watch it if I do not wish to.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@cuppatea there was a man named schindler that went above and beyond to save as many Jews as he could from the death chamber. You don't need to be so nasty and condescending. There's always one on every social media site. 🙄 if you didn't like my comment you should move on. Keep your mouth shut.🤐

Then don't watch it.

Sheeeeesh.
cuppatea · 31-35, F
@PhaqueYou Then don't comment .... Sheeeeeesh.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Never liked that movie, and from what I've heard it was pretty much of a bomb in theaters. Maybe that's why the studio didn't bother to renew its copyright, sending it into public domain and creating a super cheap film for TV station after TV station to endlessly rerun endlessly around the holidays, thus creating a "classic".
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
True... But Jimmy is every person in that film... Their fears and worries .... It's corny, sure... But there's hope ..
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
A great film, but I prefer The Bishops Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Young.
dontbekoi · 36-40, F
@therighttothink50 me too ! 😉
I'm more partial to White Christmas myself.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
One of my favorite holiday movies!
eli1601 · 70-79, M
I have never watched it.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
I've never seen it.
Nope, just one network stretches it out for three hours. It’s a Wonderful Life used to be in the public domain and any station could show it. Until the copyright of soundtrack rights were repurchased.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Have you seen Harvey?

Try Stewart in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance with John Wayne.
dontbekoi · 36-40, F
@therighttothink50 I just watched a Hedy Lamarr film ... it had an odd name? ... H. M. Pulham, Esq with Robert Young. She was so pretty!
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
[@Robert Walker, try The Clock and Since You Went Away, such a tragic life he had.

Battery at zero, msg me for film banter later if you wish :)

That’s my favorite Christmas movie.
That and “Miracle on 34th Street” are what I consider the two greatest Christmas films.....classics.

What a horrible downer of a movie, one of my least favorite movies of all time.
