Because id trust a man who wanted to earn my money before id trust the government to look out for my best interests. And besides that the fat cats would still exist but then wed lose our ability to make our own money or acquire our own material wants as we want. Like wed have to just live on whatever the government gave us. Theyd be the new fat cats with a million times the power.

I would define socialism is the collective ownership of the economy bully workers, not bosses. It's a theory of power as well as a theory of government.

The biggest disadvantage these days is that all these people are making claims about Socialism without even knowing what it really is. They used to teach a subject called CIVICS back when I was in school which taught you about government and it's different forms. These days people are just "parroting" the lies, myths and propaganda that they've been fed by all the anti socialist groups. There's some people who can't or don't want anything good for other people. A lot of the pull yourself up by your bootstraps crowd have mind sets that are unique to only them. Many have authoritarian traits and socialism or even just basic welfare doesn't match those goals since they often see power in a very stereotypically billionaire narcissist kind of way.

Even if they are not, they admire traits because of what they think gets them ahead in life even if they are poor and blame not finding jobs on immigrants instead of working on bettering themselves.
