New rule. Congress members do not get paid for the time they let the government close. Not back paid later, straight up docked for the time period.

Almost everyone in Congress is independently wealthy. It's a huge concentration of multi-millionaires. Most won't notice any cut in salary. Now if you froze the bank accounts and investment accounts of the President and Congress, THAT would make a difference!!

It is a Constitutional right that they continue to be paid during a shut down. Unless we change the Constitution, they will always be paid.

@FoxyQueen It is the shutdown itself that is wrong. It didnt exist under Reagan had a "reinterpretation" of the Constitution bought into force for his own purposes.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman You know, when you have a situation like we have currently, sometimes, shutting down is the only form of protest on that level that may be more productive than staying open.

Unfortunately the protest is at the detrimemt of workers.

They are supposed to be legislators and governors. If they are doing neither, that is a clear breach of contract. There should be a compulsory recall and ballot for their seats.
