Honestly Bernie Sanders is the only one that deserves anything
“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them…”
Bernie Sanders is another rich, lying socialist who would destroy USA. With Americans voting the way they have (against immigration, to improve economy, etc.) Sanders had less chance of winning than Kamala.
@NativePortlander1970 “it allows all of the workers to own the factory and store and share in the profits, not just one individual that keeps everything, it keeps prices lower.”
This is the same as communism. Both seek to correct the perceived issues caused by a rich and poor divide in our society (I ask: what is society? Does it exist or is it only in our heads?) and that means both need government intrusion. How can you say we have more freedom and less government intrusion under socialism? Your government is reorganizing society, trying to change our paths in an unnatural way. It is an intervention. The more we intervene and mess with things, the less free we are.
@NativePortlander1970 So you're a socialist who supports empowering the capitalist class and excuses capitalist theft. Measures to soften it you're against.
. No, communism is statist, Socispism is We the People
Kind of the opposite. Communism is a stateless society goal of socialism. Socialism is the intermediate period between capitalism and communism where the capitalist mechanism of the state is used to distribute resources and enforce worker controlled means of production until a stateless "communist" society can be achieved. That's the difference between anarchist and Marxist when discussing socialists. The anarchist sees the state as the antithesis of socialism and it's end goal of communism. That the state's very existence prevents any true socialist society and is merely a mechanism of capitalism, feudalism, and mercantilism. An unjustified hierarchy. By dissolving the state, socialis and ultimately communism can come to fruition. The Marxist ( usually identified as "communists") sees the state as a useful tool to enforce socialism until communism can be achieved. In both cases communism is a socialist society where the state has completely ceased to exist.
At the end of the day though both Marxist and anarchists ( the socialists) are all communist.
@NativePortlander1970 Stalin was never my cup of tea. He was evil incarnate. Sad that so many Americans were/are beguiled into believing the communist line.
@sunsporter1649 Yes, because that's how immigration works. We all know that whenever someone immigrates to a country, someone in that country must share their house with them.
Bee tee dubs, I do disagree with Sanders on immigration. He didn't support that bill which would have closed the border. Guess that's one thing Sanders and Trump have in common.
Biden’s attention to the working class went far beyond the symbolic. The Inflation Reduction Act, the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the CHIPS Act all led to a fertile job creation environment — and a significant increase in manufacturing jobs, which declined during Donald Trump’s presidency. (It bears noting that all of this legislation passed in the U.S. Senate with the support of the senior senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders.)
Indeed, since Biden took office, the U.S. economy has added more than 16 million jobs — which starkly contrasts Trump’s negative job growth rate. As for wages, the working class saw a higher increase in their pay than any other group of Americans, so much so that it undid one-third of the growth in wage inequality since 1980.
Under Biden, Democrats adopted one of the most pro-working class policy agendas in recent political memory, enacted much of it — and accrued no electoral benefit.
Are we talking about the Bernie Sanders that took the DNC bribe to drop out and let others win? I bet that house he bought with the bribe cost a lot of money. Good gig if you can manage it. Run for office until you get bribed not to run for office.
@hippyjoe1955 True Socialism is NOT about stealing from others, it is about everyone working together and pulling their own weight for the community, like the Amish
@NativePortlander1970 No it is all about stealing from others. That is why it always fails. It punishes the hard workers and rewards the slackers. Pretty soon everyone is a slacker. Humans aren't stupid.
Trump was always playing chess while the Democrats were playing checkers. He repeatedly outsmarted libs every step of the way. He made huge gains in several traditionally democrat demographics without losing his conservative base. MAGA is the party for everyone.
Bernie Sanders is Exhibit A on why mass political parties are awful. He comes across as one of the few genuine politicians around (even if I don't agree with him always), because he doesn't have party apparatchiks telling him what he can and can't say. And there's definitely some truckloads of truth in his observation there...
Kamala Harris ran the most pro-working class Democratic presidential campaign since probably Walter Mondale's run in 1984. She outdid Joe Biden's campaign in 2020 in that regards (although his was tempered by Covid).
@Bel6EQUJ5 Has there ever been a country that decommodified essential services, and had at least most businesses controlled by the workers? There have been plenty of governments that used left-wing imagery, but we've yet to have an actual socialist country. However, the countries that have come the closest to Socialism are the ones with the highest living standards in the world.
The fact that you actually believe that socialism could ever work is even funnier and sadder.
You can't claim Socialism can't work until you can tell the difference between Socialism and Communism.
Bernie Sanders. Yes, the millionaire who believes he's entitled to other people's stuff, and all for the sake of "fairness" (whatever that is). The man isn't a national treasure, he's an embarrassment, just like AOC.
