Kamala Harris ran the most pro-working class Democratic presidential campaign since probably Walter Mondale's run in 1984. She outdid Joe Biden's campaign in 2020 in that regards (although his was tempered by Covid).

Because too many low propensity, low information voters think Trump is going to bring back manufacturing jobs that were lost 40 years ago by raising tariffs.

Better batten down the hatches up north because Trump tariffs were effect Canadian imports into the United States as well.

U.S. manufacturing jobs began disappearing in the 1980s. NAFTA and GATT didn't help.
