Anyone here buying into the 'sovereign citizen' mantra aka cult ?

Soooo many fun vids on youtube of sov cit arrests and court hearings where cops and judges don't take their 'i am above the law' bullshit. I bet in the USA almost all of them would be Trump supporters.

Who here subscribes to the 'sovereign citizen' mantra and doesn't have a license, or registration for their vehicle, and is only ever 'traveling' not driving, etc.???

It's a valid point of view. We each have ultimate control of our own actions. Governments traditionally suppress our natural rights. It is not surprising that a free citizen resisting the corrupt control of an invalid political system would be met with shock, horror, and revulsion by the operators of such a system. We are all "Sovereign" citizens, most of us just keep it on the downlow in order to survive!

@GerOttman similar situation here in the uk. The system is set up for maritime law but it should be common law

@GerOttman You have ultimate control, but you also have accountability for your actions. If you reject society and law, go full out and stop using roads, broadband, emergency services, etc. You can't just cherrypick the parts that you personally find inconvenient.

@SunshineGirl Included with that is stop using electricity, the internet, man-man vehicles and infrastructure in general, stop using money even! Sov Cit's are a funny breed of sub-creatures.

@butterflybaby75 Stop using money is appropriate, the rest is nonsense. barter and hard currency are better options than devalued paper or credit scams.

@GerOttman Sov cits are like eco terrorists - they promote stuff like Just Stop Oil but they use devices and infrastructure created via and with oil-derived products and materials in the conduct of the eco-terrorism. I don't see sov cits all driving EV's because of the virtue signalling qualities of being an Environmental Vandal lol.

@butterflybaby75 Ah.. I think you may be a little confused about who does what. Your point of view in this matter lacks nuance. Antifa and terrorists are not sovereigns.
butterflybaby75 · 46-50, F
@GerOttman Not yet - they both follow similar baseline 'disrupter' and 'rejection of government control' mantras.

@butterflybaby75 There are many approaches to the same goal. They are not all equal or equally effective. rejecting government control is a recurring theme throughout history. governments in general tend towards corruption and repression. now more than ever and through the use of technology increasingly effectively.

@GerOttman Rejecting government control is a theme of recent American history which seems to have become a lens through which to view the rest of the world. It certainly has its place, given the circumstances under which that nation was created and evolved, but it is not the whole picture. Labelling all government as essentially corrupt and authoritarian ignores the cooperative and creative efforts of ordinary people and the reasons why they may have decided to cede some of their "sovereignty" in the first place.

@SunshineGirl I would like to think that, you would like to think that. A careful reading of thousands of years of political history tells a different story however. Perhaps you're right, maybe this >is< the golden age of political enlightenment. I remain a skeptic however.
