Hands up who knows why Tesla's European sales have crashed

There are obvious declines due to musk’s more recent behavior. However, the Tesla products don’t stack up well based on quality and price to the competition and I suspect this has been creeping up on them. Personally if I was in the market for a vehicle I’d never consider Tesla based on track record and how ugly the vehicles are even if musk was politically neutral.
@TheShanachie the Porsche electric actually looks decent and is in the same price range as the model s.

@Justafantasy wow!!!! Very interesting!!

@TheShanachie Tesla sales dreams , so it was valued on unseen technologies
@TheShanachie I haven't seriously considered either, casually glanced at both so I can't give specifics. Both are faster than you need, more expensive than I can afford and I think both generally have to go back to the dealership for most services.
@Khenpal1 I looked at the stock for years wondering why price went up as they operated at a major loss every year. I haven't looked at it since before the stock split

@Justafantasy same here, I buy vehicles for utility and if I had to pick one today
It would probably be a Honda hybrid. I’ve bought Hondas since 2002
@TheShanachie unless it's a true hybrid (self regeneration) I wouldn't consider one. I'm always curious about stuff, not brand specific though new I've bought more Chrysler products. Bought more used Ford's, and lusted over more GM products mainly Corvettes disguised as 4 door Cadillacs.

Porsche IMO has the reputation as daily drivable supercar with the 911 turbo. Tesla is the first mass produced electric car. Both have more to them than that, if I'm in Porsche price range I guarantee I'm cross shopping and the badge is worth something
@Justafantasy If you're in the market for a true hybrid, you might take a look at Toyota's "power split device."** It's a piece of engineering genius that enables a more efficient Atkinson cycle combustion engine as well as a highly efficient continuously variable transmission. This is what allows Toyota hybrids to get such great MPG.

** Originally invented by TRW in the early 1970's, it had to await cheap and efficient DC to DC converters to become practical.
@ElwoodBlues not really in the market for anything currently. Sporty car if anything

@Justafantasy If you mean the Taycan the it is significantly more expensive for the same performance.
