This is a quote by adam smith

"It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion"

Actors should lead here....stop demanding/accepting huge sums for movies. Just accept a minimum amount and keep the cost of films lower so that everyone benefits.

The money doesn't have to flow through the Treasury...keep it in the pockets of citizens.

@easterniowegin Well, if the citizenry were able to organise their economic affairs rationally and fairly in the manner you prescribe, and regulate their selfish interests, we would have no need for government and a redistributive economic system 🙂

Plato was like that too, also Aristotle, very humane people compared to what passes for careful conservatism today.

Plato like shared living including all adults caring for all children...and Aristotle thought the rich should pay more to keep things more or less equitable.

Folks like that are branded flaming irresponsible radicals now. But life SURE WOULD BE better.

@Shadyglow the irony is that adam smith is considered the father of capitalism
