What do you think of President Trump's charge that the previous administration abused their authority and spied on his campaign?

Don't know if it happened or not so, we are dealing with a hypothetical until more information is provided.

What I would like to know is your position on these three points.

1. Do you think the charge has a kernel of truth? Why or why not.

2. If it is true, what do you think should happen? Politically and legally?

3. If it's not true, what do you think should happen?

As a bonus please provide any sources for updates containing facts about this topic.

Thanks,
I found this interesting article to share regarding Obama wire tapping candidate Trump before the election. with the following link below:

https://libertywritersnews.com/2017/03/scandal-century-donald-trump-just-exposed-obama-horrible-crime-proof/

Quote from the article researched:

[c=#003BB2]"Of course, you can bet the liberal cronies at the Mainstream Media were quick to come to Fuhrer Obama’s defense. They tried to claim Trump has “no evidence” of the wiretappings to try and make him look crazy.

Well, let’s see the evidence for ourselves:

In June 2016, the Obama administration filed a request with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) to spy on communications between Trump and his advisors. He was initially denied.
July 2016, President Trump tells a joke to his campaign audience after Clinton emails are leaked where he says, “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 e-mails that are missing.” The Democrats use this one joke as the entire basis for their Trump-Russia accusations.
In October 2016, the Obama Justice Department filed ANOTHER FISA request to spy on a computer server in Trump Tower to look for ties to Russian banks as well as wiretap the phones. They found no evidence on the computer server but kept the wiretaps in place anyways for “national security reasons.” This is literally spying on an opposing presidential campaign using government resources.
In January 2017, the New York Times reports on inauguration eve that the FBI, CIA, NSA, and Treasury Department have been spying on several Trump associates “suspected of Russian ties.” This comes right AFTER Obama admin expanded surveillance capabilities of NSA to allow them to share with 16 other US agencies.

So essentially yes, Barack Obama and his cronies used a massive overhaul in federal surveillance to spy on their political opponent for their own gain and are now using it to try and force him out of office.

And, to answer President Trump’s final Tweet, you SHOULD take him to court. Shut them down once and for all. This is treason at its worst and if you have the evidence, use it to bury the corrupt Democrats once and for all!!!"

@BMV

Interesting how the libs vanished with your substantiated comment.
@Jackjjacksonjr: Well, Jack it wasn't my comment as so much the article I researched and found. I believe in finding substance to what's brought up for discussion. That's all.
ladycae · 100+, F
only problem with this article is that it does not actually cite any actual sources who would know. it simply sites other questionable news sites best known for fake news. i think trump pulled this out his ass to try to deflect attention from the more important russia connection. this is a tact he has often used.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
I'm skeptical of it. I think he's still trying to figure out the leaks from his administration, and now has the notion that it must be due to wiretapping. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the leaks are a concerted GOP effort. If they could get Trump out of the picture, they'd be in a pretty good situation to pursue some of their key agenda points. In truth I think it's just going to be an unbelievable shitstorm until at least 2018.

You are correct. I did and you provided it. @LesDeplorable:

Thank you for doing that.

@katielass:
More insults Katie?
Sounds to me more and more like you are an ignorant Bully.. Spouting off your agenda and bullying people into believing your word is truth...

Wait.. Is Katie actually Donald Trump?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
A FISA (totally classified and sealed) Court provided the warrant and the wiretaps existed. The sticking point is what the wiretaps revealed. Had the information been actionable it already would have happened. Net result is the libs using the where there is smoke there must be fire technique simply because there were wiretaps while attempting to obsucsre the fact that the wiretaps revealed zip. Case closed. The president's tweets today were nothing more than his taking a victory lap.

As an outsider looking in, there are so many things that just don't add up about the behaviour of this man.
Political rivals spy on each other. To pretend they don't is so naive as to be stupid. Especially in the lead up to an election.
Was what they were doing illegal ? Possibly. If it involved some sort of criminal action. But unless you can find some sort of physical evidence. Bugs or wire taps to back it up. How would you ever prove it ? And if you DID have such evidence, doesn't that instantly make it a criminal matter ? Meaning that even if involved you wouldn't be allowed to talk about it. For fear of prejudicing any future proceedings.
"If it's not true, what do you think should happen ?"
Well, you can't prove something didn't happen ! But 'cleverly' he hasn't named anyone specifically as allegedly responsible ! So he might get away with just suggesting it.
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
Thank you for the response.
ChefBrian · 41-45, M
Zero Truth..
Trump gets caught in lies and scandals and weaves his web.
His followers believe every word though!

What do I think should happen? They should find out his real connection to Russia and why he is so upset about us knowing.
What if the Russians rigged the election with their hacking?
What are they hiding that all his cabinet is lying about meeting with Russians?

Sources? There are plenty of articles out there that are biased one way or the other.
You can take the information and find the middle ground to take your stance.

At this point.. He's spinning conspiracy theories.
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
@chef how did the Russian change the election outcome in your opinion? Do you think they hacked the machines that tally votes?

How did the Russians have one ounce of impact.

I think it will be interesting what your opinion is.

I have some plausible answers to your questions about Trump, please clarify your answers about the Russians.
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
Btw thanks for your response! It's interesting to know what people are thinking on this issue.
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
If it is true then why not take some official action on it instead of using it as twitter fodder?

If it is true then the issue is whether it was done legally or not. Either way he has no business disclosing it via twitter. If illegally then the appropriate penalties should be pursued.

If the allegations are false without legitimate basis then it bears on his fitness to be president.
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
Assuming it is untrue, what do you think could be done?

Why do you think he would risk a move like this? This is high stakes. I don't think he would gamble blindly.
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
@USMCGUY: I don't think he can help himself. Why did he continue to tweet on the issue of voter fraud in New Hampshire eventhough he had won and assumed the presidency? At best it makes him look distracted and unfocused on the issues that matter and necessitate the president's attention.
abe182 · 46-50, M
If it's true it's going to be a shit storm for Obama.
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
If an investigation is launched, it could uncover other things. A theory I have which is newly formed is that it could be a fishing expedition used to uncover other possible wrong doing by the previous admin. 410bn arms deal to Kenya, Payments to Iran etc.

Don't know where this is going to go but the gauntlet has been thrown down this weekend.
@USMCGUY: 😏👆 this
woundedeer · 26-30, M
Thinking and Trump don't really go together
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
So by your statement you are saying Trump doesn't think or plan? That he is president by a strange twist of fate and it's part of some cosmic plan?

From the book the 48 laws of power... play a fool to catch a fool.
lorne13 · 61-69, M
it's pathetic bullshit
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
@lorne

So I'll put you down for;

1. No

2. Nothing

3. Nothing

Thanks
lorne13 · 61-69, M
@USMCGUY: very good thank you
The Government spies on everyone as a matter of "national security" if he has nothing to hide then it's irrelevant
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
@disorientedsona So you don't care about the 4th amendment?

It's not an issue that a party in power could possibly have used their position to keep an opposition party from power?

That's not scary to you?
I really don't care in all honesty, I don't think politics are ever fair. It's a game of get ahead unless you get caught or they make it legal. We don't mean anything to these people half of what they're going to do will screw us the other half will be a small benefit at best.

So no it's not something that scares me at all, I have real life to deal with. The idea that some sort of virtual dictatorship will arrise is nonsense, because Americans are paranoid about it. So it's never something to worry about
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
Thank for the response.
katielass · F
I believe the bozo would do it and if that needs explaining, you're too far gone.
And still couldn't get no dirt on the Weive.. More winning
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
This was a funny response.
Cierzo · M
1- It has. It has been proven that Obama administration wiretapped phones of foreign leaders like Angela Merkel. Why not do it at home too?

2- If true, Obama should be accused of sedition and sent to prison.

3- If not true, Trump should resign for such a strong accusation.
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
@cierzo

I don't think it has specifically been proven in this particular instance. We have spied as a country on our enemies and our allies and their command/government. I follow your argument that because they have done it in the past, what is to stop them from doing that during political season.

It may fit a pattern but it doesn't mean it happened. I need to see more than a tweet to convince he (Obama) did it.

Thanks for the reply!
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
I'm pretty sure Obama couldn't be tried for sedition for such actions undertaken when he was POTUS and had the legal authority to do so, and when Trump wasn't POTUS. If it did happen, it's pretty likely a judge signed off on it too, indicating some kind of probable cause. And also if it happened, it doesn't necessarily link straight back to Obama. A domestic intelligence agency could have applied for a warrant on its own. There's really a lot of questions and possibilities, with few answers.

Lolz your right but it reminded me of this meme ✌️

Trump's a liar, pathologically so. He takes no responsibility for anything he does. And he takes no responsibility for anything he says after it's been refuted.
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
@bijoux so I think I am clear on your position here.

You are saying that he was never spied upon by anyone in the previous administration correct?

Because it is not correct nothing should be done to folks either legally or politically?

What would you say should be done to Trump if the charges are indeed false and the admin did not spy on him?

Would you have issue with this kind of activity regardless of which party uses their authority to spy to gain advantage over the opposition or are you fine with that?

Those are my specific points in the question/ discussion.

I have you down for "Trump lies" but it didn't really answer the other parts. Don't want to put words in your mouth.
@USMCGUY: He's a liar, so nothing he says is credible. I wouldn't believe him if he said good morning.
