Girl Scouts To Award Muslim Badge To Any Girl Who Gets Married Before Age 8
The Girl Scouts of America, in cooperation with the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn, MI, unveiled a new Muslim badge girls could earn by getting married before the age of 8.
Because of the strict age requirement, the Muslim badge can only be earned by Daisies and Brownies. Other program levels are intelligible for the coveted new badge.
GSUSA President Telva McGruder said, "Islamaphobia is a growing problem and we want to do our part to teach our Girl Scouts about what it really means to be tolerant, which is why we will be offering a Muslim badge to any girl who, before the age of 8, finds a nice Muslim man to settle down with."
As a sort of consolation prize, older members can earn a less prestigious Islam badge for memorizing the Five Pillars of Islam and waging jihad. This is meant to help other girls feel included in the fight against Islamaphobia, even if they are too old to get married and, therefore, worthless.
Some parents expressed concern over the new badge, calling it "really inappropriate." They have since been expelled from the organization.
At publishing time, the Girl Scouts announced they will no longer be offering the Muslim badge after all their married girls were forced to quit the organization by their new husbands.
