That's because the James Carville types are economically right-wingers.
The modern "socialist" movement is much closer to New Deal democratic politics. They are not taking over the party, they are reclaiming from the Republican-lite wing that took over in the Clinton era.
@Munumbis I'd rather people have access to basic shelter, transportation, food, and healthcare rather than continuing to subsidize the people who are underpaying the working class.
Americans are more productive than ever, but only the people with money are benefiting from the hard work of everyone else. Americans are falling behind the rest of the world because we aren't investing in our society.

@Subsumedpat Trump has zero friends in NY. Everyone there has known him since the 60's and knows he's a crook and a con man. And NY state seized his fraud empire so he has no reason to stay...or go back. He is banned from ever being on a charity or bank board again in NY because of his fraud convictions. And his business licenses have been suspended.
Because of multiple felony convictions in NY State over a long period of time..... ANY crime trump commits in NY State is automatically elevated to a felony..........even a misdemeanor.........because he is now considered by state law as a "career criminal".
Also in NY State he is barred from a ton of rights as a felon that Florida does not have on its books......gun ownership........right to vote........travel out of the U.S.,,,,,fly in an airplane.
I guess as a moderate - I'm more like old school - which Carville is quirky but not insane.
Daniel Patrick Moynihan comes to mind - he defined his political leanings through two famous statements: "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts" and "The central conservative truth is that it is culture, not politics, that determines the success of a society. The central liberal truth is that politics can change a culture and save it from itself."
Probably more Carville, but then again I considered myself GOP leaning before W Bush, and have maybe voted one Republican in any race since the the GOP got teabagged back in 2010.
Carville is Baby Boomer Dem........old school...reluctant to let go of control.........Mandami seems to be the arm of the Dems that is now gaining the most popularity. And seemingly for good reason. So far every change he promised as "doable".............is.
