Pope Leo is mostly correct, but Jesus was not averse to conflict. If a war were truly justified, say in self-defense, then Jesus would support it. This war doesn't even come close to rising to that standard.

Jesus, the character in the gospel stories are definitely made up by Jews. However, the teaching attributed to Jesus transmits a message that transcends Jewish moral values. It is that message that inspires a universal following unconnected to Judaism, the religion of Jews.
So it may be, but don't forget Jesus (if he really existed) and his contemporary followers were all Jews themselves.
The story describes him regarding the usurers as desecrating the temple by using it for their trade.

Christianity has nothing to do with America. It’s a relationship with the living God.

It has been said that Billy Graham was actually a Christian and wasn't all that concerned with becoming wealthy, but he sure did raise one piece of shit of a son.

Graham is Protestant and the Pope is Catholic. Wars have been fought over this.

Two Americans. One Christian. One American Christian. The difference couldnt be clearer..😷

Jesus never said to make war or to kill ones enemies. He did say to love them and to do good them and to turn the other cheek. Paul said that we Christians were not to get involved in civilian affairs. I will let you figure it out from there.

@sree251 Many Christians don't vote. Many won't join the Armed Forces. Many won't run for political office.

The difference is Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham, claims to be Christian... as anyone can. Just ask Mike Johnson. Pope Leo lives as one regardless of differences in denominations.

Let me split another hair here as well. If there was a historical Jesus, he was not Jewish. There were no Jews back then and none of the national borders that carve up the Middle East we know today.
Two thousand years ago, there was Palestine, the land of the Jesus story. And Jesus was an Israelite, one of the indigenous peoples living there. The Israelites, also known as Hebrews, practiced the religion of Yawehism in their temple at Jerusalem. The Roman persecuted the Israelites, crucified Jesus, and destroyed their temple just as the Babylonians destroyed it before them. The Roman persecution of the Israelites was protracted and went on for a couple of hundred years causing many Israelites to flee. Most of them went to Europe while those who stayed in Palestine settled among the other indigenous people who were mainly Arabs. The Israelites who fled practiced a form of Yawehism called Judaism based on Hebrew scripture and the Talmud, an "Oral Law," a massive compilation of rabbinic debates. Practitioners of Judaism became known as Jews. German Jews are called Askenazi Jews. Spanish Jews are called Shephardic Jews, and so on. This bring us to the question of the Promised Land, a zionist project.
Zionists are atheists and zionism is a European Jewish secular nationalist movement in the late 19th century rather than a religious one. The Promised Land was a compact between God and the Israelites whose religion was Yawehism. Israel is Palestinian territory colonized by the British and given to the zionists. Many Jews are not zionists. Zionism is a political ideology that has nothing to do with God and the Promised Land he gave to the descendants of Abraham of the Hebrew Bible.
I take your theological point there, but as a person he was Jewish.
