I just had a really scary thought ....

Most of us assume rightly that tariffs and invading Canada and Greenland are just distractions to keep our mind off of the Epstein files... But what if we're wrong?

What if the Epstein files are part of the distraction so we don't see something else....

Be afwaid... Be very afwaid..

All three are massive distractions from the fact that Trump is way out of his depth and doesn't have a clue about government.

@SunshineGirl How's ol' 2 tier Keir doing with keeping his job in light of the Epstein revelations?

How hilarious it would be if he was forced to resign. 😉

@SumKindaMunster It would not be "hilarious". It is a very serious matter.

The problems he is faced with is two people having been disloyal to the country in their official roles - one a trade envoy, the other an ambassador, both naive enough to be drawn into Epstein's political-influence /money-trading circles - but we do need know why Sir Starmer seems to have been so taken in by Peter Mandelson's lies.

It does seem he was "guided" by an "advisor" he has now booted out of office, and a so-called "director of communications" who has now resigned; but what other damage has Mandelson done?

If the Prime Minister were to step down the Parliamentary Labour Party would have to find a replacement who would have then to clear up the mess.

As with so many cases where people go wrong as managers (not "have done wrong" in a legal sense) there are choruses of "Resign!" but that is cheap and helps no-one. It is better the individual stays and sorts it out, with help as necessary. Not leave it for others, whose selection procedure also adds a time-wasting interregnum.

(Why do Prime Ministers, and presumably Presidents, think it necessary to appoint "Directors of Communications"? What do these hangers-on actually do? Mandelson was Tony Blair's D.o.C..)

@ArishMell It's hilarious to me, as for whatever reason, it seems the British are the most aghast at the US administration pivot and Presidency of Trump. You keep hoping Trump will resign, die, be killed, or removed and the Epstein files were a big part of your hope.

So seeing two tier Keir get swept up in that controversy is very amusing to me in a schadenfreude way.

Ya'll have spent the last several years looking down on us in ways that really aren't warranted.

A lot of that has included major invective to President Trump.

I can appreciate you aren't a supporter, but it really is NOT YOUR PLACE to judge American's choice of leadership and President. You can certainly have an opinion, but I am quite weary of hearing from your fellow countrymen as to their disdain for my choices and beliefs.

So seeing Keir go down because of this, is delicious irony.

@SumKindaMunster Well you are doing there is what you accuse my country of doing to yours!

Actually, successive British Prime Ministers of both parties have been very pro-American, and obviously we respect your President as having been elected to the post, but that does not mean we have to agree to all his international actions.

@ArishMell
Well you are doing there is what you accuse my country of doing to yours!

That's correct, and I explained to you why.

Look, this isn't directed at YOU personally, but you responded and gave me the opportunity to explain WHY I chose to respond in the manner I did.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SumKindaMunster Oh, I know you weren't criticising me personally.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SumKindaMunster I couldn't care less what happens to Trump . . although I do of course care about people in America who may be harmed by his policies. What I do care about is his continual and incompetent interference in the affairs of other nations and his erosion of international law. I have made no judgement about your electoral choice or political beliefs, and I certainly have never said that I wish Trump were dead.

I like the debate in our country about Epstein associations. I think it's a sign of a healthy democracy and I am pleased that the rich and powerful are no longer beyond criticism . . even if there is continued inertia over bringing a prosecution.

@SunshineGirl trump's weakness and incompetence are actually good for smaller countries such as mine.
He is destroying America's influence and global standing, thus allowing us to find more oxygen as well as forming new and better relationships that exclude US
