It's always been great!

As a child from the 70's, I remember playing outside...the long hot summers...football....playing with my Sindy etc.

Nice food...lots of pop...cool programmes and TV...and some fantastic music...

Yet, we had strikes...winter of discontent...riots...3 channels on the TV....rubbish not always collected etc.

So, what I'm saying is that during childhood we had that blinkered thinking...that sheer enjoyment...until politics and the big, wide world entered it all and made us all grown up.

I'm sure, some 28-29 years ago, you were a happy little child...enjoying himself without a care in the world.

That was great to you.

@Guitarman123 I encourage opposing views. It’s far more interesting than someone who simply agrees with everything that I may say. What I don’t understand is how you can’t seem to detach from your one dimensional view of what is being discussed.
I’m guessing that you weren’t on the forensics team at your university.
I’m not being dismissive I’m just not interested in hearing your repetitive comments that avoid actually getting to the point you’re trying to make.

@GoldnJulz the point being is that nolan has had massive success by maintaining his artistic nature and printing his style onto his films. Like any good director would do
GoldnJulz · 46-50, F
@Guitarman123 The point has been that he has no artistic merit because he makes movies from sources like comic books for nothing more than commercial gain. There’s no artistic value in an underoos movie. His “style” is irrelevant given that he only strives for a spectacle and nothing more… this isn’t the first or even the fifth time I’ve mentioned this but you can’t seem to stick to the original conversation.

If you are referring to "Great Britain", this is simply a geographical term to distinguish the island of Britain from the smaller territory of Brittany (also known as Britain in the middle ages).

If you are generally jaded with life, try living in another country for a bit of perspective 🙂

@Guitarman123 You asked when was the UK great. I think it's pretty great right now. I say that with the benefit of dual citizenship and first hand experience of living in East Europe towards the end of the Cold War.

@Guitarman123 See, there are some good moments. Sometimes you have to make them happen though.
You know whats the problem with you brits? You're too self righteous and stubborn to accept American Football in your lives, I assure you that handegg is a sport worthy of your pounds.

@BabyLonia You're right.... I live in Canada and I really don't see a need for King Charles to be on my coins. I think 'royalties' to the Royal Family are an insult to the needy people in Canada - and that such actions feed dissention (such as mine just expressed here).
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M

In the year ending 30 June 2025, overseas migration contributed a net gain of 306,000 people to Australia's population.

Of that 306,000, 39% were from the UK
