plus the wealthiest and large corporations do not pay their fair share of taxes--that is the primary goal on the present administration, and most of the rest of the nonsense is just a distraction
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@Prison1203 If the 1% are getting off with a pittance in payroll taxes due to the cap, why should I pay more or decline taking --- what? Social Security, Medicare? Why shouldn't everyone pay equally on payroll taxes?
Prison1203 · 61-69, M
@dancingtongue that’s not how the tax code works, if it was all equal than peons like you wouldn’t have money

Yet our Social Security benefits are based on our best earning years. Is there a cap on what the billionaires can take out on benefits they don't need, or just a cap where they can stop contributing?

How do you want to deal with us? Don’t forget we’ve been paying taxes longer than you’ve been alive.
Prison1203 · 61-69, M
@Strictmichael75 then tell me how it was legal for Obama to get a book deal while in office and get paid for it ?
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
@Prison1203 seriously?
We are not talking book deaks
But political favors for MONEY

Lol 😂
You JUST don’t get it!
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@sree251 ....and who do you attribute the rise in the cost of living to over the last 30 years then ?
Not the 'boomers' is it.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
You missed the problem in the first line. "We collected $4.9 trillion in revenue " More revenue should have been collected. Now as you correctly point out, the interest alone is bankrupting the country and the international bailiff will be there soon to foreclose on the farm..Too late now..😷

Yet how many times has social security been robbed by politicians look up the amount that has been borrowed. Also it was supposed to be just for retirement but now it pays for disabled some disabled their entire life. (Those people need care but should have been out of a different fund not from the retirement that was paid in by workers.)
you can judge a society by how they treat their elderly..

these ppl contributed their entire lives, and their nest eggs.safety nets are being raped and pilaged by unchained migration and freebies.

you dont think whats gone on in Minnosota .. upwards to 100B fraud. isnt happening across the country?.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout People are living longer thanks to better healthcare. The money set aside for their retirements has not increased sufficiently to offset this.

Most western societies treat their elderly very generously, with major wealth transfers from the working population to the retired who are typically the wealthiest section of society. The question is how much longer this can be sustained.

There is need to think out of the box and retire an unworkable paradigm.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Well that's the $64K question. How do you propose to "deal with the old and the sick"?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@SunshineGirl
You have not explained what "replacing" entails (if not euthanasia).

Phasing out is a better way to view this. Nobody wants to get pushed off a cliff. We need some creative thinking to solve the problem. Don't look at me. You have a responsibility too.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@sree251 You can't "phase" people out. They are either alive or dead.

I didn't propose replacing senior citizens with robots. My solution is to increase immigration and taxation to support an aging society.

We are phasing out type of people in society and not pushing anyone off the cliff while they are still kicking.

I didn't propose replacing senior citizens with robots.

Neither was I.

My solution is to increase immigration and taxation to support an aging society.

You will still have an aging population need supporting. This is no solution.
Wait till you see how fast your next 15 years goes by, 😂
sree251 · 41-45, M
The population certainly gets no sympathy and has no value, but the expenses are high because of privatization.
On purpose.
1490wayb · 56-60, M
you left out a recent 20 year war
sree251 · 41-45, M
@1490wayb No way you can trace the money trail on that one.
CreyvinMoorhead · 36-40, M

@Prison1203 DOGE ceased to exist last November. If you want to make yourself useful, ask Musk what happened to those $2tn of promised "efficiency savings".
