I don't think it is necessarily a case of protecting white people, nor always -- at least with the very few objective news outlets remaining -- entirely the news' fault. Historically it has been common practice to identify race in crime reports when it is a non-white person. The perception, therefore, is that most crime is by non-whites when all the crime statistics clearly indicates that most crime (speaking US here) is committed by white men. This, in fact, often has been encouraged by police departments who readily made Latino and Black mug shots readily available but not so much white mug shots.

These days, of course, most "news" comes from bloviating Cable TV broadcasters, social media influencers, and podcasters with their own political agendas.

My perspective. From a half-century in and around news media.

We aren't protected any more than anyone else. Stop spreading rumours.

👀 you are living in a different world.

Look at the people reporting the news.

Though to be fair, there's a lot of white people out here and the only ones really being protected are the rich ones. Unless you are watching the more biased news channels, then it's to keep the then vs us narrative going as a means of propaganda.

It doesn't.

Why does the news always discriminate against white people?
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Nothing to do with skin color. Everything to do with money.
It's called white privilege.

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays The only White privilege is the fact that Asian girls love us.
@BohoBabe So true. Ask John Lennon.

@Lostwithielle How does the news protect White people?
I can think of a few public cases of anti-white racism that was ignored by the media. So not exactly being protected there.
