Sounds like he might have a brain
@GuidanceCounselor how do you mean
GuidanceCounselor · 56-60, M
@jefferson most brits were swallowed by communism. He might have a clue.
@GuidanceCounselor Another one totally clueless of the difference between (I take it it means"communism") and socialism. And what does "swallieed" even mean?

It's a rough world for all political leaders to navigate right now. Our own prime minister, Mark Carney, has morphed from environmentalist to pipeline promoter. If Starmer can stay boring in these times, good on him.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@ThePatientAnarchist Boring is the new non-conformity in 2025.

Mark Carney was a superb Governor of the Bank of England in the 2010s who provided rather more leadership and direction in the aftermath of the Brexit vote than our own elected politicians.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl And because he gave an unbiased and truthful view about the economic effects of leaving the EU, he was villified by the press which on the whole supported leaving. They couldn't abide a man who had no skin in the game giving factual evidence of the looming economic disaster.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
We've had enough of flamboyant showmen full of talk and bluster. I'm still giving him time to show that he can be a practical socialist rather than an ideological purist, further dividing the country.
@FreddieUK yes, boring and stable is good, but please do some things for the poor,likebuild standlaone council estates
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@jefferson I can definitely go with that.
SW-User
You could do a lot worse than the Greens at the moment. They are now polling second behind Reform in some polls.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@Platinum The media does: it keeps them in business...and the gullible lap it up as news.
SW-User
@Platinum When he is essentially saying the same thing he said 50 years ago (and he is), people will, and do, care.

Reform are going down.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@SW-User
Reform are going down.

For the sake of the country and social cohesion, I really hope you are right.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Because if he was an extrovert socialist he would probably be leading in opposition now, as Jeremy Corbyn did before him.

Careful, boring European . . actually I think that was something many people were hoping for after the Johnson-Truss farce.
@peterlee yes or get rid of uniforms, thats would help the poor, in us anobody wears a unirform to school except some private schools
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@jefferson Children still need to wear clothes, which still cost money. By having a single standard it is easier to target help to poorer families (through bulk buying or school swap shops) without stigmatising individual children.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@peterlee Free meals are widely available for families on universal credit. I don't think abolishing a school uniform would be much help (see above).
peterlee · M
Raising tax thresholds and increasing income tax by 2p in the pound actually affects the rich more.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@FreddieUK That's the spirit!
peterlee · M
@SunshineGirl The Daily Mail is a more effective Tory opposition than the clowns they have in Parliament. My wife actually believes what they write there.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@peterlee Effective opposition requires proposing a feasible alternative to government policy. Right now I see the press doing little other than fan the flames of outrage, blame and negativity lit by Reform.
Platinum · M
He is the worst pm i have ever seen, he will be replaced and labour will take 20 years to get back in again....
Platinum · M
@jefferson 4% rise in my pension with everything going up in price means im at least £10 a month worse off...helping some children out of poverty while making their parents poorer, helps no one and so many people who are on benefits will have more children and will be laughing all the way to the bank ...your labour party are letting in so many immigrants its costing taxpayers 6 million a day at least.....
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Platinum I make my own decisions based on evidence. I don't take at face value the sensationalist and misleading headlines of GB News.

They have not "put up inheritance tax", they have partially removed a generous and inexplicable exemption formerly enjoyed by farmers.

If you are interested in investigating political lies, perhaps you could ask Nigel Farage and co what happened to the £360m per week that Brexit was going to deliver to the NHS.
Platinum · M
@SunshineGirl they have put up inheritance tax....it was nothing to do with farage he was not an mp....but the nhs have been given more than 360 million a week and still in chaos......
Herr starmer going to get you into a war you can’t win with America money and muscle..
socialism is the least of your problems
G7J2O · M
@Platinum He said it 53 times during his 2024 campaign, and now claims it was in jest.

The war ends when Putin chooses. No one else. Not Trump, not Zelenskiyy. All Trump can try and do is placate Putin enough with a very large carrot and no stick, as his so called threats have just been laughed off and left Trump looking like a whiny 5-year old.
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout what war, uk is freidns with usa and always willbe as we speak the same language
@G7J2O yes idf is still killing but ont inthe thousands
Nimbus · M
Because he's a traitor in the hands of the WEF etc.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Nimbus Thanks for that . .
