And some important extra context. This is after Milei just finished burning through an IMF bailout loan. This is like giving a loan to a junkie.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow true. Long lasting policies that span many administrations include funding and loans to Argentina. But that's long, like ten years! Too long!!! Therefore I'm wrong and you are indeed, correct! But your uniparty is never a way out, only a way to do the conservative war with the uniparty. I agree that's the future. The only possibility! Uniparty forever, no exit but death!

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I didn't know any of that, that they already burned through the money. This is a disaster and Trump just froze billions of food aid going to food pantries too. Wtf.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger Yep. Giving that man more money is the definition of insanity. That applies to both Trump and Milei.

Yep, and he's blocking Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for the duration of the shutdown. Rural areas have a higher participation rate for SNAP compared to urban areas, with nearly 86% of eligible rural residents receiving benefits versus nearly 73% of eligible urban residents.
Add that on top of $20 billion to Argentina while Argentina replaces the US as China's source of soybeans, and tRump's new plan to purchase beef from Argentina, and the closure of rural hospitals due to tRump's medicaid cuts, and it's a real bad time to be living in a rural area.

@ElwoodBlues I suspect that if people can't get food, robbery is going to go up. Especially if kids depend on it. Trump is giving people nothing to lose and that's dangerous.

I empathise with her. But she says it herself. She doesnt understand. At 60 years old she is a product of a fund starved education system dating back decades. This is how you create an underclass of sheep you can milk, fleece and dispose of while they provide cannonfodder for the military and cheap labour, while still voting for "Freedom, god and the flag"
Now she says she is scared enough to leave the country. But who will take her??? What does she have to offer?😷

@whowasthatmaskedman This is very true, not only that but the same people will vote for Trump again even after. I think you're right about a fund starved education.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SatanBurger The fund starved education is a common theme in the Southern and Appalacian states. I have teacher friends in Tennessee and Kentucky😷

My advice to her and everyone else is to quit watching the news and other news-like media. Its all bad and more entertainment than news. It serves to keep us all divided and conquered.
Besides all that, people need to understand what it means when we give that sort of aid to other countries. We dont give them cash with which they can then blow on hookers and drugs, or anything else.
We send them $20B worth of US goods and services at inflated prices that they are supposed to pay back but ususlly default, which then allows us to get our greedy fingers into their assets and our influence into their government. The $20B stays stateside and corps like Enron, Bechtel, etc reap the rewards

@Jayciedubb Oh man... who is preaching for the "no brains no headaches" approach now? ...
Also you:
I guess the guy that likes to brag that his BTMI overlaps with Albert Einstein... also embraced the idea that ignorance is bliss.
Ignorant, arrogant and armed... what can go wrong? 🤷♂
I quit watching the news many years ago when i realized it's always bad news and puts me in a bad mood and frustrates me because there's never anything I can do about it. So I decided I'd rather not know about it and live in peace. My own personal peace

Every few months Americans give Argentina twenty billion dollars.
The austerity at home is your choice, as well! You voted Dem and Republican, not something else. Stop blaming others. Americans voted for austerity and endless wars. Americans voted to empower a genocide. Americans. Not someone else.

@DarthInvader That's definitely a possibility, but I haven't become that cynical just yet. I think that when the cult is starving and unemployed, at least most of them will turn on the Republicans. At the very least, they'll vote Democrat but not tell anyone.
