VeronicaJane The Republican Party no longer exists in principle, but Republican voters still exist in reality, though they are no longer represented politically in the USA.
As you said, Trump hijacked the Republican Party and re-branded that entity as the Trump MAGA-Party, not the Republican Party with a MAGA agenda.
Hitler did exactly the same thing in Europe prior to WWII with Mussolini, where the only reason that Hitler partnered with Mussolini in the first place was because of Mussolini's tremendous popularity in Italy at the time.
When those two guys partnered with each other after Hitler sold Mussolini on the idea, Hitler then re-branded Mussolini's popular Socialist Party which already had a ready-made audience.
Hitler then dove-tailed his own extreme right-wing, White Supremacy agenda into Mussolini's center-right leaning Socialist Party, which is precisely what Trump did to the otherwise center-right leaning Republican Party of America.
