Good.

The police cannot choose which laws to enforce when it comes to terrorism. I am sure most of these people are just naive in thinking sitting in the street will have any effect on anyone with the power to alter the situation in the Middle East.

I have no idea why PA was chosen to be a a proscribed organisation: I hope we will be told before long. I'm certain some of those protesting are out for most demonstrations. I am sorry for anyone hoping to have a career in any public services who find they are now faced with a conviction under the Terrorism Act which will haunt them forever, unless the government changes its mind.

Demonstrations are always a demand on Police resources and it will depend on our point of view as to whether we think it's a waste of time or not.
@FreddieUK Why PA? Probably because BAE SYSTEMS likely makes millions from the IDF.
@FreddieUK like they equally arrested other demonstrators. Nah.

The ban seems draconian and illiberal to me, but I understand it was the result of screening criteria that are applied to all political groups.

The police consistently point out that their limited resources are stretched by large protests, trying to ensure that everyone is safe and has the right to freely express an opinion in public. If people are genuinely concerned about this, perhaps they could find other ways to make their voices heard.

@peterlee This is anti-terror legislation, specifically directed towards actions on UK territory. Nothing to do with the UK's diplomatic position on the status of Palestine (which may in any case shift dramatically this month).
@SunshineGirl if starmer wants any chance of remaining in power he has to recognise Palestine and continue from there

@wishforthenight According to the Government website, one of the conditions of doing so is Isreal not occupying the West Bank.

But that can all change now the Yvette is at the Foreign Office.

Difficult to say anything constructive here.

Certain words must not be used together to construct a sentence. Some must not be chanted in public. Whilst others must not be written.

All we know is Michael Gove knew best when proscribing organisations, and Yvette Cooper and Suella Braverman have added a few phrases we must not mention in public.

I do not understand their reasoning.

The police are inadvertently been caught up in this.

In Amnesty International’s view this is all very disturbing.

Yet we have elected governments that have allowed this to happen.

Why are so many Western countries willing to completely cuck themselves for Israel? I just don't get it.

What is the UK getting out of its relationship with Israel that they're willing to go this far to stop any meaningful opposition to it?

They would not do this for any other country. They wouldn't even do it if they were protesting their own government.
@WestonT I don't know. I just don't know.

@WestonT it's likely to do with Israel being a a proxy state of the US for diplomatic and military influence in the middle east. The west don't want to be directly involved yet provide intel operations, weapons and resources whilst publicly denouncing the actions they're funding.
London is the same city that tried to ban Kareem Dennis claiming his music was literal terrorism so this doesn't surprise me.
Because the elderly and disabled are easy targets and give our "boys in blue" the chance to show how "hard" they are.

@helenS No surprises there, H.

@ArtieKat This is Mohamed al-Rahal (bottom right) with his 6-year old daughter Salih in Berlin. You can see the girl's fake "belly bombs"; she's already trained to become a suicide bomber. 😕

Llet the protesters go to Palestine and protest
ArtieKat · M
@NerdyPotato It makes f-all difference - that's my point. The only places on the planet where protest could make any difference are in Israel/Gaza or Tehran.
@ArtieKat true, they are the only ones who can stop the bombing, but the rest of the world can put pressure on them.

The USA is arming Israel today, along with Germany and the UK.
And the rest of us would like to be far away!
